What happened in Turkish football today? 14/10/2017
Galatasaray has won game against Konyaspor with help of Gomis after poor game.
Galatasaray has managed to win against Konyaspor during Super League 8th week game with 2:0 scoreline despite of providing very poor performance in today's game but with the help of Bafetembi Gomis their have found 2 goals which allowed them to win game.
Galatasaray has played slow football without raising tempo too much during the game and hence has led them not being able to create many chances during the game especially at 1st half. Galatasaray has allowed Konyaspor to create more chances during the game due of such poor performance and with luck for them it wasnt able to get into effective attacks. In fact, with how game developed today it did look like the score for game would end with 0:0 scoreline but Bafetembi Gomis who didnt score for 2 weeks had different ideas as he has found 2 goals, one from penalty, bring total goals in his name during season to 9 goals. It needs to state that Galatasaray wasnt able to raise tempo during game and has won game with very poor performance which is very important for upcoming weeks and before derby against Fenerbahce.
Konyaspor even through did look like team who controlled game their had lacked chances to find goals and hence it had lost game. The best result could hope for is drawless draw due of their performance as it had lacked chances to find goals. Now it need to forget this game and focus into Salzburg game at Europa League.
Galatasaray has managed to win game with very poor performance and has got into good advantage for derby game as it carries on its important leadership as we enter to one quarter of the season.
Besiktas performance at Super League is worrying.
Besiktas carries on its period without winning at the Super League for 3 weeks now which it has achieved 1st time with its head coach Senol Gunes for 1st time during their 3rd season as their lost with 2:1 scoreline to last place team Genclerbirligi.
It needs to be stated that Besiktas has provided its worst performance also since Senol Gunes has joined to the team as it didnt provide any organised and high tempo performance allowing Genclerbirligi to dominate its game and has lost 5 points during its last 3 games and hence has also created 8 point difference with Galatasaray and even through it is too early to state that it has lost its chance for league title as we are only at 8th week in the Super League, it did make things much more difficult at its title race with Galatasaray on this early stage of the league. One of the worrying aspects is still poor performance of Negredo and even more surprising of Jeremain Lens who were not able to get into the mood of the team and didnt find yet single goals for their new team. Ryan Babel red card, which was deserved, in 155 seconds since entering to the game has certainly also played an important role for Besiktas not able to win game.
This result will not affect negatively to Champions League aims for Besiktas as it is different tournament with different motivation and has good chances on 17th October against Monaco, but its performance at Super League does raise some worries and it does look it need to choose either Champions League and Super League for rest of the season.
Fenerbahce main opponents are themselves.
Fenerbahce would return to the Super League with crucial game against Yeni Malatyaspor as it came to the point where it cant afford to lose points if it wants to get league title which Aykut Kocaman believes team would be able to get in this season.
It needs to be stated that both teams are not showing good performance and Fenerbahce does look to be slightly advantage due of squad quality and playing at home but so far the biggest opponent for them has been themselves. Their poor performance, mistakes at defence has led more or less for them to lose their points in this season so far, so the result would be decided how their perform. It is known that Fenerbahce head coach Aykut Kocaman are currently focussed into upcoming game for next games including against Galatasaray. If this concentration and hard working would be seen during game it should be able to get a point. Yeni Malatyaspor meanwhile would play a game believing that it can get positive result as Fenerbahce became team not to scared of right now.
Fenerbahce does come out as favourite but it did lose many points due of their mistakes at the game where their were popular. Therefore, Yeni Malatyaspor has chance to get surprising result.
