What happened in Turkish football today? 05.05.2017
Napoleoni keeps Basaksehirspor league title dream alive.
Basaksehirspor goal at 89th minute goal by the Napoleoni against Antalyaspor during Super League 30th week game has provided an important win which led them to still at the fight for league title at the end of the season. But it needs to be stated that it wasnt an easy win at all for them.
As was stated beforehand, both Basaksehirspor and Antalyaspor has come out to the game which both needed to win to either fight for league title or Europa League spot. Due of this outcome while team which would win game would get advantage while loss could cost much for both sides.
Therefore, while both sides has tried to provide an attacking football it has been in same time an defensive game. It needs to be stated that Basaksehirspor has a difficulty during the game compare to Besiktas game as Antalyaspor has shown good resistance. As the game has looked like it would end with 0:0, Emre Belozoglu has provided a very good assist to Napoleoni who has converted chance. Interestingly, Napoleoni has also scored 2 goals against Osmanlispor after coming as substitution and has repeated this performance today. The team has shown a great spirit and with this mood it can carry on winning games for rest of the 4 games and wait for loss of points from Besiktas, including at derby game. As was stated before Basaksehirspor has shown that its serious for league title and has proven again after today's game.
It needs to be stated that Antalyaspor was coming to very important game also as it was aiming to end season at top 5 position and shown great resistance to Basaksehirspor who is fighting for league title. With such focus at the rest of the 4 games it could end this season at very high point.
Title race which only recently has been looked to be over is still taking place with following result and has surely put pressure towards Besiktas and Fenerbahce who would meet on 7th May at the big derby.
Galatasaray would play against Kasimpasa which doesnt put Super League into priority for rest of season.
Galatasaray would aim to carry on its positive performance following 5:0 win against Bursaspor at the game against Kasimpasa during Super League 30th week game as their opponents doesnt have much aims at the Super League for rest of the season.
In fact, Kasimpasa as been stated by players and technical staff, main aim for rest of the season is being Turkish Cup and has put Super League into secondary role, taking account that Galatasaray aims to keep its top 4 place to secure until end of the season and get to European football next season it would be coming out as strong favourite with good motivation. Meanwhile, due of Professional Football Disciplinary Committee decision the game would be played without fans which is incidently could go into advantage for Galatasaray due of recent protests from their fans, but in same time it is likely can make game to be dull. Galatasaray players during last week game against Bursaspor has provided a positive football, even through it could been argued that their opponents allowed them but Istanbul side players would aim to provide similar performance at the game tomorrow and aim for a win. It is crucial here of course how Kasimpasa would give reaction to their opponents.
Galatasaray due of having different aims would be looking into game as closer for a win but it would be interesting to see how their gameplan would be affected at the empty stadium.
Trabzonspor is favourable to win against Kayserispor but game itself is crucial for both sides.
With 5 games left at the season, Trabzonspor would certainly aim to end season with 100% record and would start this streak which been stopped last week against Genclerbirligi, with Kayserispor game who in other hand would aim to make their stay at league even stronger.
In fact this game is among most crucial at this week, among derby games, as result of both teams would possibly affect their positioning at the end of the season. Trabzonspor being at 5th place has set an eye to get Europa League spot so it can compete at Europe next season, the season which it is putting as priority. Trabzonspor with its impressive record however needs to be mentioned is closer to the victory and not obtaining one against Genclerbirligi could be seen as unlucky or not providing too much attacking football. However, with regarding how it performed in most of the game at the 2nd half it would be expected from them to provide much faster and forward seeking game tomorrow. Kayserispor needs mainly to focus onto defence if it wants to get at least draw at the game but again with some impressive performance in some games, players are capable to react as accepted in crucial game.
Both teams would be looking for a win, but with much better quality Trabzonspor seems to be closer for a win while Kayserispor would likely to provide mainly defensive game due of this.
