What happened in Turkish football today? 19.05.2017

Galatasaray has set an eye for 3rd place at the end of the season.

Galatasaray has managed to win Osmanlispor during Super League 32nd week with 2:0 scoreline after losing at its own stadium Turk Telekom Arena previous 2 games and has moved up to 3rd place with playing one gam more than Fenerbahce and having 2 games left at the season for them.

With losing two games back-to-back at home, against Fenerbahce and Kasimpasa, it was an interesting to see how Galatasaray would play at home as it has also recieved chance to become strong compitent to regain its 3rd place which it lost recently and ending season, as it has get 1 point more points than Fenerbahce who has game in hand. Galatasaray did start pretty well game with finding goals until 34th minute which has hence set the final score of the game and didnt allow Osmanlispor to create much of the chances. Even through their opponents, who is currently without any big aims for rest of the season did create some chances but in overall their attacks were not in level to make Galatasaray defence to be much worried at conceding goal.

As been stated above, Osmanlispor has completed its season and would only aim to end season with getting 6 points out of last 2 weeks, but it needs to be remembered that it will play agaisnt Besiktas on last week. This season compare to previous one has been dissapointment at Super League, but its need to be remembered that their did more than successful performance at Europa League

Galatasaray would now aim to win its rest of the 2 games, as it would be playing with Alanyaspor next week, and with Basaksehirspor possibly winning Turkish Cup it would mean Galatasaray will not play qualifiers if it finishes league at 3rd place.

Besiktas main opponent are themselves, not Kasimpasa.

Title race between Besiktas and Basaksehirspor is going to restart once again this weekend as Besiktas is going to play against Kasimpasa with 3 weeks left at the Super League. With having 2-point advantage over Basaksehirspor and having relatively easier opponent this week, Besiktas will try to get one step closer.

Besiktas does come out as stronger favourite as Kasimpasa is currently without any aims apart of finishing season at the high note and possibly get an important win for its history against Besiktas, however taking account that it has played also Turkish Cup on 16th May semi-final 2nd leg game where it has lost to Konyaspor. With this taking account it could be comfortably stated that Besiktas would also come out in much more fresh and motivated with being focussed whole week to this week. Stating that it needs to be stated since Basaksehirspor game at the league, Besiktas does show some decline with its performance and seems to be getting to panic mood. With an opponent like
Kasimpasa it does look like their mindset and calmness would be key issue rather than fellow Istanbul side. It needs ot be stated on 21st May Basaksehirspor would play against Trabzonspor, strongest opponent left for them and hence the win for Besiktas could almost make them champions at the end of the week.

Therefore, Besiktas main opponent at least for game tomorrow are themselves and it does manage to stay focussed to game it should get 3 points and make another step for league title this season.

Fenerbahce has made an agreement with Bursaspor player Harun Tekin.

According to Turkish sports media, Fenerbahce has made an agreement with Bursaspor goalkeeper Harun Tekin for 5 years and hence if its true its the first transfer for upcoming summer transfer window for Istanbul giants.

Harun Tekin needs to be stated was among best players at the Bursaspor during this season and with high number of saves during the game has played one of the main roles why team is currently is only 1 point away to stay at the league with 3 games left at the season. Even through its not suprirising that Fenerbahce are very interested to transfer him, it does raise question who would become main goalkeeper at the team as long as their have Volkan Demirel. It was argued that Volkan Demirel is getting old but he still shows great performance at his team however this transfer main aim was to arleady have great goalkeeper in case if Volkan Demirel retires or gets serious injury in next season. It is great transfer but its unclear if it would help Harun Tekin development.

Harun Tekin even through has arleady proven to everyone to be top class goalkeeper, at least at the
Turkish Super League level, he still needs to develop due of his age and being substitute at Fenerbahce will not help him. Stating that there is always loan option.
