Basaksehirspor became leaders of the Super League at least until Monday with their 2nd half performance against Genclerbirligi.
Basaksehirspor has got a very important win for its road for league title as it has won with 2:1 scoreline against Genclerbirligi during Super League 31st week. It has got its leadership at the standings before Besiktas will meet against Bursaspor on 15th May with 1 point difference.
It needs to be noted that Basaksehirspor didnt start game very well and has been lacking creativity against very tight defence of the Genclerbirligi. Basaksehirspor couldnt find its game and has been played too slow and in addition to that Genclerbirligi has found a goal. Taking account that Besiktas has an upper hand at the table, it was important for Basaksehirspor to show reaction during 2nd half. Taking account that Basaksehirspor until now did manage to show good comebacks there was still hope and with better performance at the 2nd half, especially in 1st minutes has led them to get winning result with finding two goals in 57th minute and 66th minute. Only bad news from the game has been of Cengiz Under recieving yellow card which means he would be missing most difficult game in this last 3 games against Trabzonspor.
Genclerbirligi main aim of the game has been to stop its opponents and not allowing Basaksehirspor to move forward during the game. It has managed to do that in 1st half but has failed at 2nd half and without having much aims at the league currently didnt respond well to 2:1 loss.
Basaksehirspor is entering to crucial week right now as it would play 2nd leg semi-final Turkish Cup game against Fenerbahce after 2:2 scoreline on 17th May and later will meet with Trabzonspor, which as been stated is hardest game for them in last 3 weeks of the season.
Fenerbahce seems to end Super League season mentally with 3 games left at the season.
From today's performance of Fenerbahce it has become that team players mind has been focussed into Turkish Cup 2nd leg semi-final game against Basaksehirspor or the players has ended their Super League season or mentally as players didnt show any fighting spirit today.
In fact only player who was playing with full focus during most part of the game against Antalyaspor during Super League 31st week has been Volkan Demirel who has managed to save number of crucial shots and been most important reason for them to only lose with 1:0 scoreline. Of course, taking account that Fenerbahce has a low chance to end season at the 2nd place and more or less has secured its 3rd place with 3 games left at the season this loss of concentration could be explained. The players at the Fenerbahce could not focus to the game at any moment of the game, and has been provided very poor performance without having any focus and not creating many chances. As been stated, Fenerbahce player Volkan Demirel has managed to save high number of balls during the game but even he had lost some concentration at the game as he had played hand ball outside of the boxed line. This result would surely raise questions for rest of the last 3 weeks.
Antalyaspor win against Fenerbahce still provides them chance to end season at the 5th place which could mean, as circumstances would allow them to get to last Europa League spot from Turkey which certainly would lead them motivated as their get same points with Trabzonspor right now.
Fenerbahce seems to be currently focussed towards Basaksehirspor game at the Turkish Cup semi-final game and would likely to focus more to the winning competition but this turn-off mood at the
Super League could affect their performance at Turkish Cup also.
Adanaspor has been relegated from Super League with a style as it drawn against Trabzonspor.
As Adanaspor has been relegated from Super League, 1st team to do that during this season, with 3 weeks left until end of the season it still has provided a big fight to move date of relegation as late as possible.
Even through it was expecting for Adanaspor to provide good fighting spirit and aim for miracle at their hand with still pushing their chances to stay at the Super League. In fact, it has relegated even through not losing games at the last 2 weeks but mistakes which were done before hand has led them for unexpectable doom. Meanwhile, Trabzonspor which has started and continued for most part of the 2nd half of the Super League has shown decline of performance towards end of the season and even through it still has to get Europa League 4th spot the fact that whatever it does it is unlikely to end season at top 3 place could lead players to lose their concentration. Another aspect this high performance could lead them to be tired as their been one of the best teams of 2nd half and if season has started in January right now Trabzonspor would be strong contenders for league title.
Adanaspor as been mentioned has been relegated with losing back-to-back for long time during crucial moments of the season and has led them to be 1st team to be eliminated from Super League. Taking this Adanaspor did gain lots of experience from this season and to build on that for future for sure.
Trabzonspor recent poor performance would certainly be a good news for Basaksehirspor as their would meet next week, as for Istanbul side it will be most crucial game at the league title. However, of course Trabzonspor could show totally different focus at the game next week.
