What happened in Turkish football today? 24.05.2017

Besiktas has accepted 1 million euro Inter Milan  transfer clause for Caner Erkin as long as medical checkup will show no problems.

Since Besiktas does want to keep its player Caner Erkin who is currently loaned from Inter Milan permanently it came to decision to accept transfer clause of 1 million euro for the player. Even through it became clear that final decision would be made after medical checkup.

The point which brings some worry to the Besiktas administrators and technical staff is fact that Caner Erkin has experienced serious injury during this season and hence were aware that it would been risky to keep him due of his condition. Therefore, their have accepted 1 million euro transfer fee cause set by Inter Milan with condition that his medical check-up would come out without much problems. Quite naturally if it would be not perfect it would use this as defence for not paying money to Inter Milan or even send him back to Italian club. It needs to be reminded that reason why Inter Milan insists for this cash is that their stating that cost of him to them was that amount and hence it just wants the money back. In all respect, this stance by Inter Milan is quite reasonable even through will not do much help for Besiktas.

Among medical report it would be also be issue if how long it would take for Caner Erkin to recover and how he would be useful for next season at least in condition of his injury. Stating that it is known that Caner Erkin is going through recovery fast and is likely to be fully recovered during this summer break.

33rd week is crucial week for this season Super League.

Even through there is still 2 weeks left until end of the Super League season, the league could be over during this weekend as all of the hot zones could be decided at 33rd week and last week would be played just for formality.

First of all, Besiktas would be able to announce its league title if it manages to win against Gaziantepspor which arleady has been relegated regardless how Basaksehirspor would play against Adanaspor day before. If Basaksehirspor loses Adanaspor, scenario which is unlikely to happen, Besiktas will get title without even playing their game. There is also fight between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray for 3rd place which could mean direct entry to Europa League if Basaksehirspor wins Turkish Cup. Fenerbahce has 2 point advantage over Galatasaray and in if league finishes with same points of both sides Fenerbahce gets 3rd place. Therefore if Fenerbahce wins Trabzonspor,
Galatasaray even if draws against Alanyaspor Fenerbahce gets 3rd place. Fenerbahce could also secure 3rd place even if its draw, if Galatasaray loses next day. Antalyaspor and Trabzonspor fight for 5th place which would become crucial if Basaksehirspor gets Turkish Cup is in similar place as Antalyaspor is 2 points ahead and would aim for win against Kasimpasa and wait for Trabzonspor to lose points. At the bottom, Bursaspor could secure its place for next season at Super League with even win against Genclerbirligi and in face if Rizespor loses or draws to Osmanlispor, than even with this scenario Bursaspor would be at league regardless how it plays its result due of 5 point advantage right now.

In same time, if results happen in other way round, including totally unexpected draw of Besiktas against Genclerbirligi we would have an exciting last week where all of this issues discussed above would be solved. So this weekend is crucial in sense of bringing last week as formality or leading to incredible excitement of last week.

Galatasaray has introduced new shirts with optimistic view to the future.

Galatasaray has introduced its new shirts for 2017-18 season with a positive messages reminding that team had darker days at its history but has managed to stand up and followed it with great league titles and other footballing successes since its name is Galatasaray.

This season which was total failure for the team which to some extend has started from last season has provided lots of criticism by Turkish sports media and fans, with most of them being at the target. Since the fans also stop coming to the game there seems to be not much optimism at the team. Therefore, this campaign has been aim to close this season failures (with 2 weeks left its normal timing, even through its still fights for 3rd place) and give a message that next season would be also new beginning for a team. Galatasaray head coach Igor Tudor has supported this message during today's press conference stating that he is aware that team always needs to fight for league title and hence would prepare to next season with this in his mind.

Galatasaray has lots of issues but all of the big clubs around Turkey, even Besiktas which now looks to be in great condition, had a dark days in its history but their always managed to stand up from them and that what makes a great clubs, to some extend carrier of Super League and Turkish football across the world.
