What happeend in Turkish football today? 30.03.2016
Turkish national team is lacking individual play by some players
Turkish National Team carries on its undefeated record and has risen yesterday to this number to 13 after winning Austria with 2:1 scoreline. Despite of winning game, Turkey didnt provide top football and had problems at creating chances during of 90 minutes of the game.
In fact all of the goals has come with individual performance with incredible free kick by Hakan Calhanoglu and mistake of the Austria goalkeeper at the 2nd goal which was converted by Arda Turan. One of the problems of the team that apart of Arda, whole team is relied into creating chances by passing the ball rather than by indivudual performance of the players, such as passing game which was provided by Turkey and it had trouble at in yesterday's game at creating high number of chances. Turkish national team head coach Fatih Terim has managed to make team play together but it is important for the squad to be able to do what Terim said in press conference, which is being able to get assistance both at attacks and defence especially by midfielders. The tempo of the game needs to be faster when Euro 2016 starts or team might have big problems at recieving positve result in France.
However, Turkish national team is carrying on defeatless period which lasts longer than 1 year is big advantage to a team as it is known to run with emotions and carrying on this run at games prior to final tournament will let them start tournament at high note.
Gokhan Gonul is suspected to take illegal substance
Turkish newspaper AMK has reported that Fenerbahce player Gokhan Gonul has used illegal substance prior to the game against Besiktas during his recovery. This has risen shock effect at the sporting world and raises question of him recieving fine or not by Turkish Football Federation.
Both Fenerbahce and Turkish Football Federation did state that their been informed about painkiller which was used by Gonul, which apparently contains the illegal substance. The fact that it was informed and possibly was approved by TFF does raise chances of Gokhan Gonul and club of not recieving fine however if substance is at the banned list there might be some measures to be taken. Fenerbahce biggest defence at this issue is the fact that it did inform to TFF and hence most people dont expect for fine to be released. It would all become clearer in upcoming days but again if this was among treatment and was not used as performance enhancement this case would not bring much negative effect.
The seriousness of this issue would become more clear in near future after more tests and evaluation by TFF would be done, and for now its not safe to do much comments about this issue, without this data.
Galatasaray are once again started negotiations with Indepediente player Martin Benitez.
As we are getting closer to the summer, the preparation of summer transfer window by the clubs has begun slowly with deciding who would leave clubs and who should be transfer targets. Galatasaray as once again, as was with mid-season window is interested to transfer Indepediente player Martin Benitez.
Even through Galatasaray did not manage to transfer Benitez in January, it is known that during negotiations to clubs has got good relationship between them and hence Galatasaray are close to conclude the transfer as soon as transfer window would open. Both clubs and player are interested for this transfer to take place and the team could purchase player who doesnt cost much, young and has potentiality at the future. If this transfer would be successful it would be huge gain to Galatasaray certainly. It is known that team is going for youth players and getting Benitez would be right move for this transfer aims.
Martin Benitez is highly skilled player and apart of being economically good transfer would also make Galatasaray stronger in next seasom, if he moves in summer.
