Fenerbahce didnt manage to beat referee Ivan Bebek at Europa League last 16 2nd leg game.
Fenerbahce has lost at the Europa League last 16 2nd leg game against Braga with 4:1 scoreline, even through it would been more in place to state that Fenerbahce has lost to Croatian referee Ivan Bebek who during whole game has given decisions against Fenerbahce, which most of them were wrong decisions.
It is hard to analyse this game in the side of the performances of the both sides with such a one-sided referreing by Ivan Bebek who had destroyed football with his decisions. To people who didnt see game and reading this, it could be seen as writer of the blog is blaming referee for the loss but watching game it becomes clear to everyone that its not the case. Prior to 2nd red card of Mehmet Topal and the penalty kick which was never there, as Topal didnt have chances to use his hand in other way, game was with 1:1 scoreline, and Fenerbahce was going through with around 20 minutes left to be played, with 2 goal cushion. Having one player more at the team Braga quite naturally went all attacking football and providing similar ending to the game as Sporting did to Besiktas at the last game of group stage this season. Yes, Braga did play good today and possibly has deserved to get through with its football and who knows maybe it would get through without help with Bebek. It will be unfair to say that Braga didnt go to through in deserved manner. But Ivan Bebek did steal quarter-final ticket from Fenerbahce with those decisions. Meanwhile, this decisions does make also referee decisions at Super League, which been criticised actively recently, as very decent and understandable.
Fenerbahce players and administrators got a huge nerve and unfairness to its side as could be seen towards ends of the game, especially by Volkan Sen asking for 2nd yellow card, player who is known to be emotional. Fenerbahce quite rightly will defend itself in its statements but it needs to be careful for not recieving unwanting fines from UEFA after the game.
In fact, there is lots of areas to be discussed about the game regarding of game play by Fenerbahce today, including some criticism but today's entry was dominated by unbelievable refereeing of Ivan Bebek. Possibly, tomorrow's blog will look at the Fenerbahce side of performance.
Galatasaray appoint Jan Olde Riekering as clubs head coach until end of the season.
Galatasaray has decided to appoint its new head coach Jan Olde Riekering until end of the season after having unsuccessful negotiations with number of well-known head coaches in the Turkey. As all of them has declined to be head coach for short period of time, Galatasaray has appointed its academy coach Jan Olde Reikering as club's new head coach.
Galatasaray in past weeks had negotiations with coaches Bulent Korkmaz and Hasan Sas who were ex-Galatasaray players and also with Ersun Yanal, however all of them has declined the offer due of shortness of the contract. It was quite natural for those names to provide this decline as 3 month period at the team who has trouble at the league among being unrespectful also will not provide enough time for this coaches to work at the team and make them strong enough and ready to fight for Europa League. Since club's ex-head coach Mustafa Denizli has left his post, it was actively expected that club's coach would become newly-appointed Jan Olde Riekering and without finding any alternatives he was selected even through it is known that Riekering didnt want that spot when he joined club.
It is not expected for Riekering to be successful for next 3 months at the club and would only to provide his best and raise motivation of the players but expecting impressive results for him would be too much, and best he can do for sure is to make his team to win Turkish Cup.
Turkish National Team introduces new football kit prior to Euro2016
Turkish National Team has introduced its football kit prior to its friendly games against Sweden and Austria at which it would play with them and also during Euro 2016. The design of shirt is done in good fashion and the fact that colour changes from dark to light is a good design.
The football shirt was designed and made by Nike and gives respect to the classical colours of the Turkish kit which was used at World Cup 2002 and Euro 2008 which is classical white, red and turquoise colours. The kit was presented to the public by Turkish National Team captain and Barcelona player Arda Turan who have stated that he liked the shirts. Lets hope that following design would provide good luck to the team at the group stages and also hopefully at the Euro 2016 play-off stages.
Meanwhile, Turkey would play two important friendly games against Sweden on 24th March and Austria on 29th March.
