What happened in Turkish football today? 21.03.2016

It was right decision to postpone Galatasaray game against Fenerbahce

It became clear that the reason why yesterday's Super League 25th week game between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce was postponed was due of planned terrorist attack which was planned by ISIS in similar manner as their did in Paris and which could leave high number of deaths.

The idea was to have suicide bomber between crowd who was coming out after the game and would explode himself during one of the main games around Europe, and possibly whole world. This attack is very similar to the one which was planned by ISIS during Germany and France during friendly game back in November. Even through number of supporters were angry that following postponement was announced only 3-4 hours before kick-off the game, it was still important as human life is surely is more important than any kind of football game, regardless how important it is. Apart of some number of supporters this decision was treated as right and good choice including from sports journalists and broadcaster itself.

One thing is certain football also has become target for terrorists, it was always as hot spot but this recent events have shown that it became one of the top targets especially by terrorist groups like ISIS. Right now clubs and security at stadiums should be more tighther as stadium does host thousands of people who are vulnerable to terror attacks.

Turkey-Sweden game should take place as an strong answer to terrorists.

After yesterday postponed game one of the main question was what would happen to international friendly game in Antalya between Turkish National Team and Swedish National Team on 24th March with Swedish media stating that game will be cancelled.

However, Swedish team members including its star player Zlatan Ibrahimovic say that their not thinking to cancel game and their recieved from Turkish authorities strong information that game is not in danger. Cancelling game just because of the feelings will not do good to anyone and plus if there is some signs of terror right actions would be done prior to game. It is crucial that Sweden and Turkish national teams make it clear that the fear wont win like that and their will play following game as long as their is no direct danger as was in game yesterday. It is time to make sure that sports plays an important role in this hard days for Turkey.

Sweden and Turkey need to work together at the game to show that no fear will win them as that what terrorists are seeking for.

Foreign players determined to stay in Turkey.

With number of terorists attacks rising around Turkey there is talks almost everyday by Turkish and international sports media that star foreign player would leave the league due of dangerous atmosphere in country which leads to players to deny that statement.

Players such as Nani, Wesley Snejder, Andreas Beck and Lukas Podolski didnt hide fact that their worried and scared but in same time acknowledge that their plan to stay in country and will not run away knowing that things will get better and that those things can happen in every place around the world. This is an important message by players, because most of the newly-signed players did come to Turkey knowing those dangers will take place and number of them had experienced this fear before hand. The media will talk about this possibility of them leaving but for now those leaving signals should not be taken seriously.

It does look like foreign players will stay at Turkey at least until summer, and then we see what happens.
