What happened in Turkish football today? 24.03.2016
Turkey has shown positive performance against Sweden.
Turkish National team starts this 2-game friendly period and also the year of 2016 with a win against
Swedish National team with a 2:1 scoreline, with both goals of Turkey being scored by Cenk Tosun. This win is an important one as it would keep players at the high motivation mood for the Euro 2016 year and lets hope it will stay like that for rest of the year.
In overall, performance of the Turkish national team at the game was very positive with controlling game, good passes and aiming to have attacks during the game which is very important factors for modern football. Only problem had risen between 65-80 minutes when Turkish team has lost a bit of concentration and start playing slower football which in return has also led for a team to concede goal. Possibly this is could be main negative factor which could be taken by Fatih Terim from this game as it shows that team does lose concentration and have problems with stamina, even through this could also be due of fact that number of players are not recieving enough game play at the their own clubs this season, however Cenk Tosun who lost starting 11 spot due of Mario Gomez in Besiktas has provided highly concentrated football with beautiful goal at 32nd minute and an important goal at 81st minute of the game.
Turkish National Team has provided great performance and this attidude, despite of mid 2nd half period would be enough for good results during Euro 2016 games and does provide hopeful views to the supporters. Right now it will focus at the game against Austria which would take place on 29th March and hope to end game with win also.
Sweden meanwhile has provided good opposition but didnt see to control game both due of not having Zlatan Ibrahimovic at squad and also for nice organised game by Turkey. In overall, well deserved win by Turkey with only problem being loss of perfomance and control at mid-2nd half.
Fatih Terim expects public apology from Volkan Demirel.
Once again argument about Fenerbahce player Volkan Demirel not to be called to the Turkish national team since 2014 has been opened at the Turkish media prior to international friendly games with also asking directly to the Turkish national team head coach Fatih Terim during yesterday press conference, to which he refused to provide any answer.
Fenerbahce player Volkan Demirel during game against Kazakhstan has left game and went to home after one of the supporters has sworn to him, the action which costed him a place at Turkish national team, to which by the Volkan Babacan has filled in good way. It is known that Volkan Demirel wants to get back to the team and also Fatih Terim did not close door completely to him. There is strong rumour that Turkish Football Federation is expecting public apology from Volkan Demirel towards team-mates, Terim, supporters and Volkan Babacan particularly. If he does that he would be called once again. Volkan Babacan is doing great things at goal, but it needs to be realsied that Volkan Demirel has more experience compare to Babacan and it is unclear if he would be able to take pressure at the Euro2016.
There is high possibility that Volkan Demirel would be called to final tournament at the Euro 2016 but it is still uncertain as Turkish National Team might still consider to carry on punishing him for his actions at the game against Kazakhstan.
Hakan Calhanoglu might miss Euro 2016.
One of the main aspects of this week was also transfer inconsistence of Bayer Leverkusen player Hakan Calhanoglu transfer from 2005 from Trabzonspor to Karsluhe at which 1 million euro, according to Trabzonspor CEO Muharrem Usta, were not paid to the club.
FIFA was planning to give 4 month ban to Calhanoglu, however since case was opened at the CAS the punishment has been frozen, but not cancelled. Muharrem Usta stated yesterday that team wants to fight for its economical right and even if Calhanoglu is not recieving punishment, their should recieve cash which was not paid to them, normal reaction taking account that what club is going through economically. Of course, some people has saw following issue a bit suspective as it was opened after number of years just prior to Euro 2016 and are seeing as an operation against Turkey. In either way, its important to hope for best as Calhanoglu would be a key player to a Turkey.
The decision would be released in May as long as CAS doesnt overturn decision which it can with enough evidence from each bodies.
