What happened in Turkish football today? 26.04.2017

Basaksehirspor has started game pretty well against Fenerbahce but didnt kept its advantage until final whistle.

Turkish Cup 1st leg semi-final game between Basaksehirspor and Fenerbahce has ended with 2:2 scoreline at the game where Basaksehirspor has shown great start to the game with finding two fast goals but wasnt able to carry on its good performance as the game progressed.
It needs to be noted that Fenerbahce did start game pretty poorly and during whole game did provide not too fast football with some extend allowing Basaksehirspor to control game for most of the part.

During few last games even when Fenerbahce got an important wins, it wasnt able to provide fast-paced football and does seem to be having lack of motivation. The mistakes which it has created during first minutes of the game where instead worrying especially at the wings area of the field at the defence as Basaksehirspor was observed to come in easy and calm manner at the front and having providing good crosses. However, Fenerbahce still has found 2 away goals and before 2nd leg does have small advantage as long as it doesnt lose game in its home next week.

Coming to Basaksehirspor, taking account of crises between A Spor journalist following Super League 28th week game against Rizespor it was especially curious how Basaksehirspor would be responding. The way their started game has shown that their wanted to win game a lot with showing a great attacking football and finding goals from Cengiz Under during 1st 11 minutes. Meanwhile, with such start by Under and his goals he has once shown again that he could become a great player in upcoming weeks at the Turkish football. Meanwhile, club's goalkeeper Faruk Suren didnt provide much confidence especially as he had difficulty at crosses and its visible he needs more training, experience to develop to be good player. Still Basaksehirspor with all this circumstances has provided good performance and send strong message to Besiktas for Super League 29th week game on 30th April.

It needs to be stated that despite of not really fast tempo during 1st leg of semi-final we still did see good quality football with number of good chances as game progressed. With 1st leg ended with 2:2 scoreline, 2nd leg promises to bring some excitement.

Kasimpasa would aim to write a history against Konyaspor.

Both Kasimpasa and Konyaspor at the Super League has become aimless team as their had secured their place at the middle of the table and would only aim to end season at highest position their had.
With this taking account it would be very reasonably for both of them to give all focus towards two semi-finals game, with 1st leg starting tomorrow.

Kasimpasa even through has mainly ended its league at the mid-table for most of the season, as the team it doesnt have big successes which would be pop up 1st when the club's name has been stated.
Therefore, among getting direct ticket to the Europa League, Kasimpasa would also look for ways to find solution to this and make a mark to Turkish football with at least getting to final stage. It would meet with Konyaspor which is also having similar performance in this season and therefore this game would be be seen in similar strength between two sides and would be tough game for both sides equally. Kasimpasa it needs to state did provide good performance to get to semi-final but their are not far enough from final.

Kasimpasa would seek to have its first major success at the history of the club and having opponent like Konyaspor does provide them good chance to achieve that.

Turkish Cup could be good way to compensate Konyaspor poorer season than it was expected.

Konyaspor meanwhile has provided a very good performance from last year which led them ending season at the 3rd place in last season and compete at the Europa League, this season and it was expected for them to carry on this performance.

However, it needs to be stated that Konyaspor possibly not being able to perform at two fronts didnt
manage to provide a good performance this year with only providing good season at the Turkish Cup. It now has chance to get once again Europa League, and improve its last season, if it manages to pass Kasimpasa and get to the final, a great solution for such dissapointment season it had. It is expected that players are aware of this themselves and hence would provide big effort to get an advantage scoreline after 1st leg game against Kasimpasa played in Istanbul. The fact that both teams are in similar strength provides same amount of chances to see final as not being able to overpass their opponents.

It could be stated that Konyaspor is more experienced to cope with Turkish Cup but in same time this tournament especially for team at mid-table has been more key of successes not on experience but on motivation to succeed, and tomorrow it would be clear who wants final more.

Turkish Cup, semi-final, 1st leg:
Basaksehirspor 2:2 Fenerbahce
