Besiktas has lost with conceding two goals due of mistakes at 2nd half in eventful night.
Besiktas has lost Europa League quarter-final 1st leg game with conceding two goals back-to-back with simple mistakes against Olympique Lyon at the game which has started one hour late due of disruptions of the fans.
The quarter-final game between Olympique Lyon and Besiktas has ended up being very eventful both at the events which has happened outside of the game and also late-night action at the field. The events which took place prior to game would be discussed even more at tomorrow blog, but it would be noticed that those actions has been provacative and planned beforehand by Olympique Lyon "fans" even through it is not entirely clear if it was message to Lyon or had something to do with Besiktas, but more likely to be internal issue.Coming to game Besiktas has started game pretty well with showing an attacking football during 1st half and finding goal with Ryan Babel on 15th minute.
It has controlled game for whole 1st half hoping that Olympique Lyon would get tired as game progressebut quite opposite has happened as Besiktas was observed to get more tired during 2nd half and hence had conceded two very simple goals as Besiktas fans were waiting for end of the game and celebrate a victory. 2nd goal which was scored due of mistake by Fabri is beyong understanding especially when its done by goalkeeper who is having very good season. Either due of tiredness of game starting late or lack of concentration Besiktas has ended game very poorly and was very far away from its usual performance.
Its need to be stated that Olympique Lyon has been seen too weak at the start of the game and did provide a very poor performance however it has turned game around during 2nd half to which Besiktas had trouble to find solution too. Olympique Lyon has ended 1st leg game with a win but the chances are still equal as 2:1 which is more like 0.5 goal advantage.
Besiktas has played very successful 1st half but was away from its top performance during 2nd half of the game and it needs to improve on this poor performance but as been mentioned before it has whole week to get prepared due of referandum break at the Europa League.
Gaziantepspor have a risk to be eliminated from Super League with such mood at the team.
Following loss to the Genclerbirligi during Super League 18th week which was postponed due of passing away of Genclerbirligi CEO Ilhan Cavcav back in January, Gaziantepspor has lost with 1:0 scoreline and team made its chances to stay at the league even more harder.
As Gaziantespor has lost game it has stayed with 22 points at the 17th place, and 5 points from outside of the relegation zone. Taking account that daytime game wasnt played at high level and their opponents were very far from its best performance, Gaziantepspor performance does provide some worrying image of not being able to provide enough football which would be crucial for them. It also known that supporters are unhappy with such performance, as we are talking about team which has stayed at the top division for long time now and has a serious risk of being relegated. Head coach Bulent Uygun has come to save team with his good experience at similar conditions but he wasnt able to solve that and with showing lots of unhappiness at the team including fans it is hard to see how he would be able to motivate players which quite naturally are in bad mood and lack of confidence arleady that their team will stay at the league.
With 21 points still available to be won at the rest of season, 5 points difference at the relegation area is not huge difference but it needs to win games back to back to have chance or otherwise their no other case for them to stay, and with such mood at team it doesnt look like it would.
Galatasaray player Fernando Muslera gets best player of the club award.
Galatasaray player Fernando Muslera has recieved today from his club an award as best player of the year. Even through goalkeepers needs to be praised, it does raise some questions when goalkeepers gets that award.
In some occassions even in great games winning that award is an important aspect, but when difficulty level at Super League to be frank is not very high, getting an award even at the club level of team which aims always for league title to goalkeeper does raise questions. Among signs that attackers were not able to provide lots of goals, it does show that defence is weak if goalkeeper gets lots of chances. Again, Fernando Muslera is certainly best player at the team with his level of performance and one of the best goalkeepers, but at the team which has players like Wesley Sneijder, Lukas Podolski and Selcuk Inan among others it does provide an image that not enough has been done at the overall by the team. Sadly, for Galatasaray this is true as could be seen from many games.
Galatasaray needs to praise for existence of Fernando Muslera at the goal and fact that he always gives his best to team or otherwise it would been at much worser position during few last seasons.
