What happened in Turkish football today? 25.04.2017

Besiktas is confidently moving to the league title.

Despite of showing signs of tiredness at the Super League 28th week game against Adanaspor which is placed at the last place in the league, Besiktas has managed to win game with 3:2 scoreline and with 6 weeks left at the season, are currently 7 points ahead of 2nd-placed Basaksehirspor.

Besiktas has come out to the game in very tired mood both psychologically and also physically after having very tiring 120 minutes against Olympique Lyon game at the Europa League quarter-final 2nd leg game. This has been mainly observed during its defence play however having a good advantage at the top of the league it has managed to stay calm and focussed even when it entering to last minutes with a draw. It was important for Dusco Tosic to find such an important goal which is also his 1st goal for his club since joining team 2 years ago. Adanaspor meanwhile has provided a good football despite of being at last placed and has managed to find 2 goals against team with one of the best defences at the whole league.

Besiktas is now 7 points ahead and could become mathematically champions within 2 weeks if results would turn around as their wish but even through their need to stay focussed and provide a great performance against Basaksehirspor in Super League 29th week game and to get closer to title.

Scandal with beating up journalist could affect negatively to Basaksehirspor performance against Fenerbahce.

With Basaksehirspor coming out to two very important games this week which is against Fenerbahce at Turkish Cup semi-final 1st leg game tomorrow and also against Besiktas game on 30th April
during 29th week of the Super League it would been expected for them to be with best squad and fully focussed to those games.

However, an incident with A Spor journalist which their attacked following Super League 28th against Rizespor week game has affected both in player-wise and also from Professional Football Disciplinary Committee. It needs to be stated that Basaksehirspor would play probably two most important games in its season and not being able to play Volkan Babacan at tomorrow's game as he recieved one game ban and also 2nd goalkeeper also having 5-game ban among being taken away from squad means that their would play with 3rd goalkeeper Faruk Cakir against Fenerbahce who has only played 2 games this season both at Turkish Cup. Among those, it might be difficult following so much criticism from mass media and especially from A Spor which is broadcaster of Turkish Cup towards Basaksehirspor that the mental condition of the players could be questionable.

Therefore, it could been difficult for Basaksehirspor players to be concentrated to the Fenerbahce Turkish Cup 1st leg game even through playing at home it would certainly aim for advantegous scoreline.

Fenerbahce is in better conditions both mentally and motivational prior to Basaksehirspor game. 

This nervous condition of Basaksehirspor meanwhile could turn into advantage for the Fenerbahce, as it would allow them to use this nervous situation with providing calm and controllable game.

Compare to Basaksehirspor, Fenerbahce is also coming at better motivational boost as it has managed to win game against Galatasaray with help of goal from Josef de Souza at the 90+1 minutes despite of performing badly at the day. Fenerbahce as it is known has set an aim to get to the Europa, with one of them is getting 2nd place which is incidently its fighting with Basaksehirspor or at worst winning Turkish Cup and get directly entry to Europa League. To achieve both those aims it needs to pass Basaksehirspor at two fronts and due of events happening with Basaksehirspor, Fenerbahce can use this as their own advantage. Stating that Fenerbahce is not providing its best football still in recent games despite of winning games, and hence if Basaksehirspor does provide two good games at the semi-final than reaching to the final of Turkish Cup will not be as simple as it looks from 1st view.

Fenerbahce does come out in more better view due of recent results and also mental condition but it still needs ot perform good football as when Basaksehirspor is focussed to the game its hard team to beat.
