What happened in Turkish football today? 07.12.2016

Besiktas didnt play its best football regardless of wrong decisions by referee.

Besiktas has joined the list of the Turkish teams which has been eliminated from the European tournaments with suspicious referee decisions this time giving penalty and red card to the Andreas Beck at the moment where there was no single signs of any foul.

It needs to be stated that however, as it was mentioned at post-match report at blog yesterday, that Besiktas didnt play its best football during Champions League 6th week and final game at the group stage against Dinamo Kiev, who was playing for formalities, before the penalty kick. Even through Besiktas needed to win the game, and it show some control of the game there was not much signs that Besiktas could turn around 1:0 deficit it had. It is certain that it hard to say for sure as Besiktas can fulfill surprises and has turned games before during 90 minutes and also scoreline would not be that bad if Craig Thomson had done more fair refereeing but Besiktas didnt play its best football at the night. It does need to be stated that Dinamo Kiev has been focussed into the win as the game progressed and hence brought such a confident win to itself. The Turkish media and team could throw all blame to Craig Thomson but those wrong decisions by referee should not cover fact that Besiktas had hard time at the game even 11-on-11.

Besiktas will now compete at the Europa League 2nd round stage and focus once again to the Super League after such a shocking result. It will have tough game against Bursaspor and it needs certainly to react well against tough opponent.

Fenerbahce needs to provide strong compact defence to get result from Feyenoord.

Fenerbahce will play an important game against Feyenoord where it would need to get at least draw to qualify to the 2nd round of the competition however following task will not be that easy.

Feyenoord as it is known is having very good season especially at home games and knowing that it would only the win would certainly push the team to perform its best, therefore biggest role at the Fenerbahce would be given to the defenders as it cant risk to concede goals and would surely aim mainly not to lose game rather than to win it. It needs to play compact footall to beat Dutch side. Best scenario for tomorrow would be certainly for Fenerbahce is to find an early goal which would set a task to qualify to 2nd round much easier and try to defend and control game while conceding early goal could make an evening very hard. Also its important to note that if there is  action behind Turkish clubs around Europe by referees, as been seen yesterday with Besiktas, than Fenerbahce players needs to be careful during the game.

Following game will certainly more tougher than one played in Istanbul where Fenerbahce won with 1:0 scoreline. Main focus should be given to defence by Fenerbahce which in latest weeks its been doing well.

Osmanlispor will aim for history against Zurich.

Osmanlispor would aim to provide historical result by getting into 2nd round of Europa League from its debut season at the competition where it would aim to get a draw or win at the home game against Swiss side Zurich.

Osmanlispor as it is remembered could mark its history during past week against Steaua Bucharest but with not great game at the 2nd half it didnt achieve this task. However, as it is known Osmanlispor is providing very good performance in Ankara games and hence would come out slightly favourite for the game where draw is good result for them. Osmanlispor needs to play its best football tomorrow and has no reason to be afraid of its opponents taking account that level of the teams is close to each other. With strong belief it would mark history at the club and for a city.

Osmanlispor needs to feel brave and play its usual football for them to get to knockout round and as a side there can achieve that from viewing performance of them at the tournament so far.
