What happened in Turkish football today? 12.12.2016
Fenerbahce has lost critical game against Antalyaspor.
Fenerbahce has lost an important game during Super League 14th week game against Antalyaspor with 1:0 scoreline and probably providing worst performance since draw against Alanyaspor with 1:1 scoreline during this season.
With Fenerbahce being in situation where it cant afford to lose any points due of bad start this season it is now 7 points behind leaders Besiktas and Basaksehirspor. Apart of losing the game it has provided poor performance which could been referred to tiredness of the game against Feyenoord at the Europa League. Apart of not being strong enough at the attack, which did happen in last two games, it has also shown pretty poor defensive football with simple mistakes by Skrtel especially which could led for Antalyaspor to find goal even earlier and make a difference. There is been lots of argument if Moussa Sow goal was foul or not. Even through Sow argues he has touched ball first, it needs to be stated that leg was too high and this position would be qualified as dangerous game by him. Fenerbahce did show good attacking football towards end of the game but it has happened too late.
Antalyaspor has shown great compact football and carries on impressive performance after appointing Riza Calimbay as team head coach after which team didnt lose game. Antalyaspor was showing good defence and showing great attacking football with only having problems with last touches.
Fenerbahce has lost very critical game, and as been mentioned earlier it cant afford to lose any games while teams above them keep winning. Right now, Fenerbahce head coach Dick Advocaat and players need to find reasons why it has lost this game and try not to repeat this critical mistake.
Galatasaray action against terror attack on Vodafone Arena is more important than their win.
Apart of winning very important game and getting crucial 3 points against Gaziantepspor during Super League 14th week game, Galatasaray has won many hearts- regardless which team viewers supported- by very right actions in memory of police officers who have passed away during terrorist attack near Vodafone Arena on Saturday.
Those actions which have been mentioned at yesterday blog has become more memorable than 4 goals scored during the game, mainly Galatasaray captain Selcuk Inan taking policemen to the field for applause after fans has called him to do so and also Yasin Oztekin hugging three policemen after scoring 1st goal. Those actions once again show that even through football is exciting sport, its not most important thing in the world, regardless if you win or not. Stating that, all players at the field were professional players and hence their still did everything to win the game. Galatasaray during the game has shown much more attacks during previous games and even through their scored 3 goals, from Yasin Oztekin hat-trick, Gaziiantepspor goalkeeper Gokhan Degirmenci has shown great goalkeeping skills and certained had prevented team to get much more humiliated loss by them.
Galatasaray is right now 3 point behind leaders of Basaksehirspor and Besiktas and now set an eye for leadership with hard game against Osmanlispor this weekend. But again terror attack on Saturday has put this fact as not very important even for football fans.
Togetherness is what important right now and results of games are is not as important right now.
Reaction to the Vodafone Arena attack which took place after Besiktas and Bursaspor from the football clubs is still carries on coming with most of them being right and well respected from them. Turkish Cup which would start tomorrow would mainly dominate with signs of memorial actions towards victims of this attack.
Besiktas, Konyaspor among other clubs has announced that all of the sales from Turkish Cup games would be going to the families of victims who have passed away during teror attack, with Gaziantepspor stating it would do that until end of the season. Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman meanwhile, focussing into fact that attack has taken in his stadium, has called every fans, regardless which team their support, to come to Turkish Cup game against Kayserispor with all ticket price profits would be send to families. Even through Turkish Football Federation, quite rightly, has decided not to postpone games following attack, those games became more than game, it became reaction against terror attacks. Even through the results of this games could play role at league titles, European spots and relegation zone, the focus is into remembering people who passed away is more important. Dont get wrong, teams would aim to win, but it wont be disaster if their lose, because next to terror attack this is nothing.
Its important to carry on this feeling of togetherness for rest of the games after this, stay strong, remember that its only football. Players, fans should give passion, aim, fight for big achievements but also give respect to opponents, workers at the stadium, people who are involved in football and most important respect and enjoy human life of itself and other people. We are all human after all!
