What happened in Turkish football today? 11.12.2016

Galatasaray-Gaziantepspor game has been dominated with responses to yesterday terror attack by everyone.

Turkish Super League 14th week game between Galatasaray and Gaziantepspor, as other games during today's gameday, has been dominated by yesterday's terror attack in the Vodafone Arena and response given by fans, players and club administrators. Even through Galatasaray has managed to win an important against Gaziantepspor the game has been dominated by actions done towards police being present at the stadium.

One of the actions was providing roses towards security by players and referees to police workersand hence giving their condolences and respect to them. The fans during the game has also shown big respect by calling one of the policeman to the stands with the help from Galatasaray captain Selcuk Inan. Another part of praise should be given especially to the Yasin Oztekin who went to hug policemen after scoring his 1st goal at the game. Coming to the game itself Galatasaray has shown pretty attacking football and creating numerous chances and could have won game with more confident manner. However, the performance of the Gaziantepspor goalkeeper has shown great reaction during the game and hence stopping Galatasaray to score more than 2 goals. Key player of the game has been certainly Yasin Oztekin with his hat-trick.

Gaziantespor has shown some attacking football especially during 1st half but had a problem at providing last touches which could do some extend describe their poor performance this season and has also shown poor defence due of focussing into attack. It did play good attacking football but if it cant convert chances it would have hard time to get a win.

The game has been dominated by yesterday terror attack and mourn day given to it in psychology of fans and supporters. But Galatasaray did manage to get a result which it was seeking for from game.

Teror attack at Vodafone Arena does raise questions of security in stadium surroundings.

Yesterday terror attack which has taken place at the Vodafone Arena at 1.5 hours after Super League 14th week game between Besiktas and Bursaspor has certainly left everyone shocked and condemn such an attack including from footballing world.

In the time of writing 38 people have been passed away from the attack which includes 30 policeman, 7 citizens and 1 person whose identity is not been identified yet. The main suspect for terror attack is being Kurdish seperate group PKK which is known at its history to make its terror attacks towards police and army rather than into civilians. This attack is certainly been targeted into police as it was has taken place when both sides fans have left game and security was leaving stadium. The following attack does however raise questions about security of the stadiums especially the ones like Vodafone Arena which is in the middle of the street. The mourning for 1 day has been introduced around Turkey but this didnt affect football games with Turkish Football Federation only giving decision to keep minute of silence prior to games.

The following terror attack would certainly raise security at the stadiums and might affect to the supporters coming to the game less in upcoming games in very likely manner.

Besiktas gets motivation and confidence back after penalty goals.

Coming to the game Turkish Super League game between Besiktas and Bursaspor itself it was a game where Besiktas has been focussed to get a win after a dissapointing performance in last two games at the Super League where it had drawn against Basaksehirspor and Fenerbahce and also 6:0 loss against Dinamo Kiev at the Champions League.

Besiktas has been seen as the chance to return itself and despite of controlling the ball during 1st half at the attacks it didnt show much effectiveness without creating too much chances. In fact, Bursaspor who has controlled less ball has provided most dangerous attack at the game during 1st half. It does need to be stated that Cenk Tosun penalties, with both of them being questionable decisions, has played a main role for Besiktas to get a win and get a motivation which it urgently needed after Dinamo Kiev game. Despite of not providing great attacking football, it did good job to prevent Bursaspor to go forward until 80th minute even through neither did Bursaspor has shown quality game at the front.

Besiktas didnt play its best football against Bursaspor but it did get an important win which would certainly raise their motivation for league and Turkish Cup games until midseason break.
