Trabzonspor gets confident win against Adanaspor.
Trabzonspor has recieved a comfortable win against weakest team at the Super League so far at this season with 4:1 scoreline during 14th week game. With such a performance Trabzonspor has managed to regain some confidence after winning two games back-to-back with relatively easy opponents.
Trabzonspor as would be expected has dominate the game and has shown some superiority against weak opponent taking account that the level between teams is very big and Trabzonspor could only aim for win tonight. Surely such a comfortable win by Trabzonspor would provide lots of confidence for rest of the 5 games left until midseason break, including Turkish Cup group games. It needs to be stated that opponents would be tougher but at least it has some confidence prior to this games. One of the possible factors that it had managed in today game compare to previous games is to get 7 shots on target with 12 tries which is good improvement taking account of the lack of attacks which it has recieved and on-target shots on previous games. Meanwhile, the referee of the game has been provided some interesting decisions especially against Adanaspor including penalty kick and red card decisions. It does look like tough words given to the Trabzonspor to its referees has provided some pressure to them which might affect in upcoming games.
Adanaspor meanwhile carries on providing poor performance while being team without coach. It needs to find new coach as soon as possible or it would have tough days in upcoming games. Adanaspor states that this is not priority to them but this is risky for a team right now as it would get into deeper problem with such a performance and without someone managing team.
Trabzonspor carries on improvement at the recent weeks and shows good results but it needs to remember that it had played with not strong sides at the league recently and this wins are not enough for them and it needs to start win teams which are in the form.
Fenerbahce ends tough group stage as leaders with showing impressive football.
Fenerbahce has managed to win Europa League 6th week game against Feyenoord and has ended the groud of death or as it is been known Champions League level group as a leaders with winning yesterday game with 1:0 scoreline. Even through Dick Advocaat was unhappy with performance of Fenerbahce yesterday, it still was smart play by them taking circumstances.
As was expected, Feyenoord has provided an attacking football against Fenerbahce as it needed to win with 2 goal difference to qualify to 2nd round of the tournament. Therefore it was crucial for Fenerbahce to provide strong and concentrated defence during the game which it has managed as the team has shown this season that it has very stable and strong defence. Of course, another overhead goal by the Moussa Sow, the man who see world other way round, has made things easier as Feyenoord needed to score 3 goals after 22nd minute. It needs to be stated that Feyenoord never gave up but Fenerbahce was aiming to end group stage as leaders and it has achieved that. Taking account that team has become much better and improves with Advocaat it would be expectable for team to be in better form at performance level on February when 2nd round games will take place.
It needs to be stated that as team has ended as leaders at the group, it would recieve much easier team at the next round and with such performance it would be surprise if it wont get to last 16. In fact, Fenerbahce at least should aim for quarter-finals in this season Europa League.
Osmanlispor marks great history by ending group stage as leaders.
However, the biggest surprise, talking point and to some extend proudness of the Turkey has been Osmanlispor getting its knockout ticket and even more impressively getting there as leaders.
Osmanlispor in each level of team, and even through having great last season, wasnt expecting to get that far of the tournament and when starting at the 2nd qualifying round expectation was that it will furthest to qualifying play-off round, as this blog did state back in summer. However, Osmanlispor proved this blog and everyone else in Turkey to be wrong, happily. Osmanlispor has played brave football and showing that it has noone to be scared of in Europe.Even through this group could be seen relatively easier than Fenerbahce, it needs to be remembered that Osmanlispor has entered to draw with Pot 4 and having opponents such as Villarreal and Steaua Bucharest, which even through might not be at their best level do have great experience at the Europa League compare to the Osmanlispor.
In similar manner as Fenerbahce, it would enter to the draw as seeded team and apart of Manchester United would also await teams which are relatively weaker or in same level as them. And as their been shown, their dont have issues with teams which is slightly even better than them.
