Besiktas has won against Kayserispor at the game which has focused into togetherness against terrorism.
Besiktas has managed to win Turkish Cup 2nd week game against Kayserispor with 2:1 scoreline at the game which was meant to show support for the victims of the families and generally police following terrorist attack near Vodafone Arena on 11th December.
Among top 4 teams in the Turkey, Besiktas has managed to be only one team which has managed to win first 2 group games despite of not providing best football and going through big rotation at the squad in the tournament. Even through the game has started pretty slowly, after 30th minute Besiktas has started showing upper hand as very strong and togetherness atmosphere was present as fans of different clubs has come to game to show more of the togetherness rather than supporting team as all money from ticket sales will be going to the family of victims of terror attack. Even through Kayserispor did manage to get scoreline to 1:1 after Besiktas was leading it needs to be stated that Besiktas was more focussed to the game and has deserved to win the game. It was also important for Vincent Aboubakar to score a goal as he had recieved number of criticism lately for not converting high chances into the goal in previous games.
Kayserispor which also has poor season at the Super League wasnt able to get into right mood with such an atmosphere and didnt show good performance despite of getting to 1:1 scoreline on 83rd minute but conceded after 2 minutes. It needs to be stated that its performance in game was similar to general performace this season.
Besiktas this win apart of getting into good position at the Turkish Cup has allowed team to get a win at the period where performance did go a bit lower than was at the start of the season. Now team would focus to carry on good performance until midseason break.
Galatasaray get 2nd draw at the group stage against 24 Erzincanspor
Following 1:1 draw against Elazigspor during 1st week of the Turkish Cup group stage game.
Galatasaray has got same score against 24 Erzincanspor at the game which was played in winter conditions with parts of the stadium being covered with snow and temperature being -5 degrees.
The factor of the snow and it being cold has certainly affected both of the teams as their had failed to control ball at all especially Galatasaray showing pretty poor performance. Istanbul side has started game with reserves and substitute players which could also could been reason for Galatasaray having trouble to find a goal, however as team has introduced players such as Sabri Sarioglu and Eren Derdiyok during 2nd half it became visible that Galatasaray had trouble at getting any goals today. Stating that Galatasaray did manage to go ahead at the 50th minute with the goal by Josue which gave view that game could have ended with minimal scoreline. However, hand ball by Hamit Altintop 7 minutes later at the penalty area has led for Galatasaray to concede goal from penalty and end 2nd game at the Turkish Cup with a draw.
24 Erzincanspor in similar manner as Galatasaray could not show good football due of weather conditions but one thing is certain that as a team from 3rd league it has shown good reaction against one of the top teams and did turn some eyes at this group until now.
Galatasaray has got drawn twice at what could be referred as pretty easy group for Galatasaray and it does look like it does take it too lightly. If it wont take it more seriously, it would have issues at qualifying to knockout round stage.
Trabzonspor didnt manage to continue its winning mentality
Turkish Cup 2nd week game between two Super League clubs, Trabzonspor and Konyaspor has been played in pretty slow tempo where both sides were lacking to create any dangerous attacks as the game progressed, with some sign of actions being present for last 20 minutes.
For Trabzonspor to win this game, as been mentioned earlier, was even more important as it needed to carry on its top performance but as Konyaspor would also have high aims for Turkish Cup it was expected to be competitive game. However, both sides didnt show much will for this game with their slow game and not able to create chances. It looked of the game where both teams didnt show any signs of wanting to get this win. It needs to be reminded that Trabzonspor has got its first point and after 2 games has only 1 point which does show some warning signs for its chances to get outside of group. Of course, group being pretty easy with only serious opponent Konyaspor it still has good chance to get to next stage but it does make its chance a bit harder after two games.
Konyaspor meanwhile has got 4 points and does get into relatively confident position as it has obtained point from its biggest rival of the group. With having teams like Gumushanespor and Kivilcaboluk it should have relaxed Turkish Cup campaign at group stage.
Trabzonspor needed to win today to carry on its winning mentality but it didnt achieve that and still doesnt show signs of very attacking team despite of getting good two wins at Super League last 2 weeks.
