It was almost perfect year for Besiktas

When looking at the 2016 as a whole it could been stated that it was perfect year for the Besiktas among Turkish teams even through to some extent it could have spend this year even better. But it did become champions of the Super League back in May of 2016 which by itself is huge achievement.

2015-2016 season Besiktas has experienced one of its best periods in the recent past by dominating league by winning with impressive performances by players such as Mario Gomez, Oguzhan
Ozyakup and many others. It did to some extend carry on this impressive performance to the this season and despite of not recieving same excitiment at its performance-wise it still enters to the 2017 as one of the main candidates for league title. One of the main aspects of the past year was also an opening of the Vodafone Arena in April where it had lifted its title. Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman, especially first half of the year, has been mainly dominated by him achieving many aspects which he was seeking for.

The upcoming 2017 does promise to be a successful year as it is 1 point behind leaders Basaksehirspor and would certainly aim for to defend its league title and be successful at Europa League and Turkish Cup.

Galatasaray didnt provide its best football in 2016.

Galatasaray had a pretty mixture year of 2016 as it had lost chances to get league title arleady in January of past season however it did show some improvement during this season.

However, it needs to be stated that Galatasaray has never reached to its highest performance despite of winning both Turkish Cup against Fenerbahce and Super Cup against Besiktas. One of the news which been dominated for them has been 1-year ban from European tournament due of not following FFP guidelines set by UEFA. Hence, Turkish Cup has provided them an extra motivation as not winning it could lead to ban for 2 years. It needs to be stated that club head coach Jan Olde Riekerink did recieve lots of criticism but taking account some circumstances he did some big improvements while being head coach of team and keeps them among league title contenders for 2017.

This performance is arguably is not enough to get title for Galatasaray but it can improve and certainly would improve and it can set good tasks for upcoming season.

Dick Advocaat has turned performance of Fenerbahce to 180 degrees compare to Vitor Pereira.

Fenerbahce did have a difficult year and for most part of the year didnt provide very satisfying football to its fans and football critics, mainly due of previous head coach Vitor Pereira.

The main opposition was due focussing too much into defensive and not attacking football. This didnt make many people involved at team happy despite of ending season at the 2nd place. The year has also been dominated by the Robin van Persie who was seen from unwanted player into turning into one of the stars of the team. Meanwhile, current head coach Dick Advocaat start recieving results which he and administration of club was seeking for at and does have big aims for upcoming year. Fenerbahce has ended 1st half of the season with most goals scoring team, turning  Pereira critical lack of goals performance to 180 degrees. It had provided good performance at the Europa League and will have good aims at the tournament knockout stages.

Fenerbahce still has high aims for 2017 and can achieve them if the team carries on improving and playing football which is Dick Advocaat seek for. Fenerbahce is certainly team to look at for next year.

Fenerbahce has shown its best performance at the Turkish Cup.

Fenerbahce has ended 2016 with a comfortable win against Menemen Belediyespor at the Turkish Cup 4th week game where it has shown best performance at the Turkish Cup so far this season and is certainly looking for next year.

As Fenerbahce head coach Dick Advocaat has stated after the game, during the game both players at the field and subsitute have shown whole concentration and wanted to win the game and this performance to some extend has satisfied will of Advocaat which was looking for more attacking style game. The recent performance of the team does show that Fenerbahce is becoming slowly an offensive focussed team with a strong defensive game. The recent rise of performance of Fernandao has also certainly will keep him to stay at the team until end of the season, as he had scored hat-trick yesterday.

Fenerbahce will be looking for next season at the both tournaments hoping to provide much better performance and would seek to finish at top so it could avoid Besiktas at the last 16 stage of the tournament.

Trabzonspor doesnt provide much hope for 2nd part of the season.

The way Trabzonspor has played its last official game of the 2016 did not only describe this season but whole year of 2016 in overall as it had experienced one of the worst 12 month period at its history.

Trabzonspor as been stated at yesterday blog was coming to the game as the favourite due of level of teams and also beating them with 5:0 scoreline during last week game. This week as in previous game has once identified factor of Trabzonspor not being highly motivated and not being able to provide top class football which everyone at the community are awaiting them. Finishing Super League with good results seems to be a difficult task right now but getting to the last 16 stage of the Turkish Cup seems to also hard aim for them now, even through it is achievable. The team does need urgent solutions at the mid-season transfer window and training camps.

Trabzonspor cant find out a streak of good and comfortable wins and does look like would suffer in rest of the season as well with the results.

Basaksehirspor has shown much impressive performance so far this season.

Undoubetedly, the most impressive team of the season so far has been Basaksehirspor who will enter to the 2nd half as the leaders with 1 point advantage over Besiktas and surely as the team would aim for leadership.

This performance by Basaksehirspor it needs to be stated was not expected by anyone but with the quality players team has with good experience at the top class teams with head coach Abdullah Avci has played an important role for such an impressive performance by the team. Basaksehirspor didnt yet lose any games at the Super League with obtaining 4 draws, one being against Besiktas. It plays a well-focussed game without having too much issues at the controlling game. It is known that team aims to become stronger in midseason transfer window, including a transfer of Genclerbirligi player Irfan Can Kahveci. It is still unclear if Basaksehirspor would be able to become Turkish Leicester City but it would certainly carry on giving this impressive performance.

It does look like players believe that their can achieve following tasks but still keep their feet on ground. Bursaspor did show that it is possible for teams outside of big clubs to win league title in the Turkey but among physically performance it is important to stay focus.

Fenerbahce has ended the year with comfortable win against Menemen Belediyespor.



Fenerbahce has managed to end year of 2016 with a comfortable win against Menemen Belediyespor with 6:0 scoreline at the Turkish Cup 4th week game with the hat-trick by the Fernandao.

As it is known, Fenerbahce did have trouble at showing top performance at the Turkish Cup so far with having mixture of the result, but it has provided whole dominance against Menemen Belediyespor at its home ground even through it was played at the empty field. It needs to be stated that compare to the previous games between two sides Menemen Belediyespor it did show signs that it has huge difference between sides in sense of the quality. It also need to be stated that Fernandao who was on rise during last few weeks, has managed to provide his best performance so far at this season and has scored a hatrick with high quality goals including overhead one in 1st half.

It was visible that there is quality difference between Fenerbahce and Menemen Belediyespor at the 3rd week game when Fenerbahce has won with 1:0 scoreline, but with Fenerbahce being more focussed into the game it had trouble at getting to show any upper hand of the game.

Fenerbahce did start this season pretty poor performance but has shown an impressive improvement at the 2nd half of the season and would certainly aim to continue or even improve its performance for next season at all competitions it is at.

Trabzonspor has ended year in a way it had performed of whole 2016.

Trabzonspor 1:1 scoreline against 3rd league team Kizilcabolukspor at the Turkish Cup 4th week result does in fact show how did Trabzonspor has provided its performance during this season.

Following 5:0 scoreline against Kizilcabolukspor during 3rd week game at the tournament it was expected that Trabzonspor would at least gather win but the performance did end up being as of opposite what was planned and has failed to at least end season at the high note. It needs to be stated that Trabzonspor did control game much better and had upper hand of the game as it had played with its main squad. But failing to score more than 1 goal during the game has affected to score even more goals and has continued its lack of goals which led to concede at the last minute and hence had conceded a goal.

Kizilcabolukspor has got its 1st points at the group stage and has shown a great fight against Trabzonspor who was playing with the first squad. Even through team was seen as the weakest team it has provided a great performance against Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor has ended the season in the way how it has performed whole season and actually year and right now has difficult coming up with the year of 2017 with Turkish Cup and Super League of showing top performance.

Galatasaray didnt take Tuzlaspor seriously.

Galatasaray has ended the year with very exciting and scandalous game on its side against Tuzlaspor where it has lost to the 2nd league team at the Basaksehirspor stadium with 3:2 scoreline. Apart of losing game it has also dominated with Yasin Oztekin and Aurelian Chedjou red cards.

Galatasaray main conversation after game was  needless red cards recieved by Chedjou and Oztekin without any need. Both players has recieved at the end of this issue 20,000 euro fine and in addition club has ended contract with Aurelian Chedjou among Hamit Altintop and Kolbeinn Sighortsson. Galatasaray didnt show great reaction towards Tuzlaspor which led to such a surprise and unexpected result at the game which it has played. Even through Galatasaray has shown some good performance at the recent games in the league, it wasnt able to focus entirely to the Turkish Cup and with such focus Tuzlaspor quite rightly has punished them.

Galatasaray even through has had good season so far it couldnt not be said for their performance in Turkish Cup so far and are in danger of not getting to the last 16 stage.

Galatasaray has surprising lost to Tuzlaspor at the Turkish Cup.

Galatasaray has recieved a shocking loss to the Tuzlaspor at the Turkish Cup 4th week game with 3:2 scoreline which has been provided with a big fighting spirit between two sides and Tuzlaspor has proven to everyone why it is leader of the group so far with its performance.

Galatasaray did manage to get into the leadership at the end of the 1st half and despite of not providing top football prior to football goal by the Aurelian Chedjou has shown some big hope for the 2nd half where it would be aiming for leadership at the group. However, Tuzlaspor has managed to show great comeback with finding 2 goals back-to-back. There have scored goals in 51st minute and 53rd. To make things even worser, Yasin Oztekin and Aurelian Chedjou had recieved pretty unneccarily red cards which led Galatasaray to get into the next stage of the Turkish Cup into much difficult situations as their have currently 4 points and are located at the 3rd place. This loss would certainly make most people dissapointed as Galatasaray was aiming to defend its Turkish Cup.

Tuzlaspor meanwhile is being among most surprising teams of the Turkish Cup as it managed to win and carry on its leadership at the group where Galatasaray is and have become most talked teams so far. Their had not given up the game and scoring 2 goals back to back while losing to Galatasaray is impressive results.

Galatasaray didnt manage to end 2016 with a win at Turkish Cup possibly players being at the festive mood too early by losing to the Tuzlaspor. It carries on well enough at the Super League with 3 points behind leaders Basaksehirspor but have poorer result at the Turkish Cup.

Besiktas would look forward for successful year of 2017. 

Besiktas has become among first teams to qualify of the last 16 stage with two games to go by winning Boluspor with 2:0 scoreline and has end this year with an important win at the Turkish Cup.

Besiktas has provided full focus to the game compare to other teams among the top 4 at the Turkish Cup while managing to control game against Boluspor from start to an end and hence has ended the 2016 at the good mood. As the Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes has stated after the game,  that it would aim to become even better team for the 2017 and would aim to become a team which would seek to win every single team which it would meet next season. It was important for Besiktas to end this year with a win following a very successful season.

Besiktas has managed to get to the last 16 which means that it would be able to play its last two games at the calmer way in the last 2 games at the group stage and in overall right now Besiktas would look forward for upcoming year with high aims and targets at the Super League, Turkish Cup and Europa League.

Fenerbahce will aim to end year of 2016 with a win.

Fenerbahce will end the year of the 2016 in the Turkish Cup 4th week game at the Kadikoy as it would aim to end the year with a good win against Menemen Belediyespor and carry on its aim to get into the last 16 stage of the tournament.

Fenerbahce so far has a mixture campaign at the Turkish Cup with obtaining 4 points and having a scare of the getting to the next stage of the tournament, but does see itself as big chance to win Menemen Belediyespor with possibly giving an extra chance to win them as it likely would focus even more for a win with a support of its fans even through it would play at the home ground. The team would be as usual not to play with the best squad as its doing at the Turkish Cup but with the quality difference it would be expecting to provide much better performance. For this game quite naturally Dick Advocaat would expected for younger and reserve players to provide better performance compare to previous cup games.

Fenerbahce would aim to end this season in high note and gain motivation for the next year with the win against Menemen Belediyespor and also get into better chance to qualify at the last 16 of the Turkish Cup.

Besiktas has ended successful year with a win. 

Besiktas has ended the year of the 2016 with a win against Boluspor at the Turkish Cup 4th week game and has secured its place at the last 16 stage of the tournament, with best event of the game for a  team is being a goal scored by the Talisca.

With an successful year it was pretty logical to expect that last game of the league title champions would end this year with a win against Boluspor at the game where it has controlled for most of the part. Playing at the home even through with few numbers of the fans it was able to end the season at the high note and provided a very good farewell present to their supporters. It needs to be said say that Besiktas has controlled game from start to the end with having on 12 shots on target at the game which it has provided in total of 19 shots. It was also a good news to score a goal by Talisca who has returned to the team earlier than it was expected he would play his first game on 2017  but with fast recovery has shown very good performance at the game.

With weather and field conditions being at better conditions, Boluspor due of big difference with quality wasnt able to provide a surprise against Besiktas compare to last week game but it still has aimed to provide a positive football at the game despite of lacking to create chances.

Besiktas would enter to the last 2 weeks of the Turkish Cup group stage with knowing that it would be competing for last 16 stage which means that until February its only worry will be Super League which would restart in two weeks. Besiktas would surely will have good break which it has deserved in this year.

Fenerbahce is currently at great mood prior to midseason break.

The game which was mainly dominated by the fact that Trabzonspor was playing its last game at its stadium Huseyin Avni Aker stadium prior to moving to the Senol Gunes Complex has been mainly dominated by Fenerbahce high-class performance with winning game with 3:0 scoreline.

Fenerbahce did manage to win the game even through it needs to be stated that it did recieve big help from Trabzonspor Yusuf Erdogan handball which has led to the red card and penalty which allowed Fenerbahce to have much more comfortable game as their had converted penalty and had an extra man during the game in around 60 minutes of play. It needs to be stated that Fenerbahce did not provide a very good performance prior to Fernandao goal at the penalty but to some extend Fenerbahce did have chance to turn the game as Trabzonspor did lack to convert  their chances , view which it had provided during whole season. Fenerbahce player Jeremain Lens did perform as usual at top performance at yesterday's game and has played an important role at the win which includes scoring 3rd goal during the game and providing two assists.

Fenerbahce has won 2 games back to back at the league with 3:0 scoreline and is 5 points behind leaders of the league Basaksehirspor which means it would go to the next year with still being directly at the league title race.

Trabzonspor didnt show signs of scoring even with 11-on-11.

Trabzonspor quite naturally would see that it had lost game due of red card of Yusuf Erdogan due of handball and goal-line and penalty kick which has led to this position but it needs to be stated that it was uncertain it would find  goal even on equal sides.

It is true that it had started game in good way against Fenerbahce and had upper hand which includes hitting post at the start of the game. To some extend, it would been unlikely for them to lose game with 3:0 scoreline with 11-on-11, but it didnt give much image at the recent performance that it would have won game. Trabzonspor was playing its best football it is capable right now while Fenerbahce would very likely to be improved in upcoming minutes as game progressed. Trabzonspor has failed to score Fenerbahce for high number of games since 2013 and it didnt provide an image it would do yesterday. Trabzonspor is certainly having a very bad season and it has lots of things to improve at in the midseason break.

Trabzonspor didnt win the game but it does have chance to get a win against Kizilcabolukspor during Turkish Cup 4th week game, which it has won with 5:0 scoreline last week, and hence enter to the midseason break with at least in bit good mood.

Yusuf Erdogan hand ball has changed game entirely.

Fenerbahce has spoiled a good farewell game of the Huseyin Avni Aker stadium by beating home team Trabzonspor with the 3:0 scoreline at the pretty slow-tempo game which has went into full control for the Fenerbahce after Yusuf Erdogan hand ball position which led for him to recieve red card.

It needs to be mentioned that Trabzonspor has started game much better compare to Fenerbahce with going forward and controlling game including hitting post at the first minutes of the game. In fact, Fenerbahce has failed to have any control of the game at those minutes. However, everything has been changed when Yusuf Erdogan hand ball at the goalline has prevented a goal to get in which led referee to give him red card and penalty kick. After Fernandao has converted the chance into goal their to started to control game even more and has controlled tempo and possession after that moment. It does manage to end the season at the high note and still finds itself at the league title contention. It also needs to be stated once again Jeremain Lens has also played key role for this win.

Trabzonspor was looking for game to get a win for certainly as it was farewell game for them at the Huseyin Avni Stadium but it couldnt get what it was seeking  due of red card by Erdogan which certainly affected the result. It needs to be stated however that even through Trabzonspor has controlled game at the first minute it still wasnt able to raise the tempo of the game which has affected to the rest of the game. Trabzonspor will go to midseason break with lots of questions with its performance and would certainly aim to get number of transfers and also work on its squad to improve their performance.

Fenerbahce is currently 4 points behind leaders Basaksehirspor and is standing at the 4th place but it is showing good performance only being really still suffering from results which it has got from start of the season. Both teams would certainly look ways to improve in midseason but this is especially issue for Trabzonspor.

Galatasaray Dutch players has shown their best game of the season so far.

Galatasaray has obtained confident win against Alanyaspor at its last Super League game of the 2016 with the 5:1 at the game which has been dominated by Wesley Sneijder performance who had scored a goal and provided 4 assists.

It needs to be stated for certain that this was the best game by the Wesley Sneijder of this season and
has shown that he is still key player for the team as long as he plays good. In fact, there is saying that when Sneijder starts playing than whole team is also performing at same time their best. However, it needs to be stated that his fellow Dutch player Nigel de Jong has also shown an impressive performance with scoring a goal and creating high number of the chances during the game and finally showing his class during the game. It needs to be mentioned in same time that Galatasaray confident win has certainly been affected by Alanyaspor accepting the loss after scoreline of 3:1. Right now, Galatasaray is 3 points behind leaders of the league Basaksehirspor and hence would look forward to the upcoming year.

Galatasaray will play its last official game of the 2016 against Tuzlaspor at the Turkish Cup 4th week game on 27th December and it would aim to get positive result and hence end 2016 with a win.

Besiktas would aim to end this year of 2016 with the win against Boluspor at the Turkish Cup at the game which it certainly would come out as favourite and their would also play at better conditions in the Istanbul.

As was remembered, Besiktas had pretty tough game against Boluspor during Turkish Cup 3rd week game where both sides could not provide any football due of heavy conditions of the field and the heavy snow. Despite of not being leaders at the Super League, it could been said that 2016 ended by being a great year for them as their had won league title of 2015-16 season. It would aim to end this year with a win and send its fans away in happy and festive mood prior to the New Year Eve. With
Besiktas wanting to end year at high, even through its only Turkish Cup could hence lead to have a tough game to the Boluspor but with taking account that it is unlikely that Besiktas will play with strong squads, Boluspor should at least provide good fighting spirit game on the day.
