What happened in Turkish football today? 07.01.2016
Turkish Football Federation defends Turkish referees.
As the Winter referee conference is taking place in Antalya this week and which been organised by Central Referee Comittee and Turkish Football Federation, the talks about bring foreign referees to Turkish league issue has been re-opened by some attendees. During press conference, Turkish minister of sports and youth Akif Cagatay Kilic and Turkish Football Federation CEO Yildirim Demiroren had stated strongly that their against for such a decision.
Both Demiroren and Kilic has stated that it is more productive to find solutions how to improve current referees and bring arguments/comments about them in football media in more productive manner rather than find ways to criticise them. It is very important note that both Central Referee Committee and Turkish Football Federation decides to protect its referees with some changes of how to train them been discussed. Such as, Central Referee Committee CEO Kuddisi Muftuoglu stating that their will be reduction of blowing whistle during simple fouls at the game, so to bring continious to the game and follow model of English Premiership.
As Demiroren and Kilic has stated at this period media plays an important role to criticise referees at productive way rather than trying to hit them with weapons.
Clubs need to respect head coach contracts with them.
Discussions about bringing limit to the changes of head coaches allowed pre-season has been among number one topics so far at this period in Turkish football media with Turkish National Team head coach Fatih Terim joining the debate. Terim has stated that clubs should be free to change head coaches as much as it wishes as long as it respects clauses at the contract between themselves and coach.
The issue of bringing limit to change of head coach does have issue of forcing club to keep head coach which does damage to the club but providing some kind of control such making sure that club respects clauses such as paying wages, compensation has been paid to head coaches and that decision of sacking has nothing to do beyond of head coaching issues. It is difficult issue but should be find solution as soon as possible.
Main problem of the issue as been mentioned before is focus by administrators of the club to focus into results and being impatient with referees. There is high number of coaches who left its position without its achieving its projects.
Great start for Arda at Barcelona in game against Espanyol.
Turkish pride Arda Turan has played his first game yesterday at the game agaisnt Espanyol for Barcelona at the Copa Del Rey 1/8 round 1st leg where he played for 68th minute. Following the game, Arda Turan has been praised by his coach Luis Enrique, teammates and Spanish media.
The media has stated that Arda has played very good at game and reasons why he is not perfect yet as he needs to get used to the club and style of game, in addition he is not at his best due of only playing 2-3 games for Turkish national team for half a year. Everyone in Turkey was also happy with Arda Turan performance and are being sure that he will only improve as games will progress.
Right now, Arda Turan just needs to get used more to his new club Barcelona and become potential star of the team and go to history of Turkish football and Barcelona.
