What happened in Turkish football today? 22.01.2016

Fenerbahce carries with win despite of poor game against Tuzlaspor

Fenerbahce carries on its 100% record at the Turkish Cup with the yesterday win against Tuzlaspor despite of poor performance which was admitted both by head coach Vitor Pereira and number of players after the game.

The factor that all of the big "4" teams has arleady got place at the play-off stage has led for poor performance for them, such as Besiktas losing game, Galatasaray ending with a draw and Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce only winning with one goal despite of playing against much weaker opponents. Fenerbahce did need this win to carry on the momentum which it has at the 2016 and also to carry on its motivation towards the Super League fight for title. One of the important factors was of course for the Lazar Markovic to score such a great goal and whose motivation should even go higher as he was really liked by Fenerbahce fans but was lacking a goal. Also nice goalkeeping of Fabiano showed that Fenerbahce 2nd goalkeeper is in good condition.

Right now, Fenerbahce is coming back to the Super League game against Rizespor on Sunday where it would try to attempt to get a win and hope for favour from Trabzonspor who would play against Besiktas later on Sunday.

Galatasaray will play against Osmanlispor who would be motivated against them.

After 1:1 draw at the Turkish Cup against Akhisar Belediyespor, Galatasaray is getting back to the league at the game against Osmanlispor tomorrow. As it is known, Galatasaray has currently have difficult task of catching up with league leaders Fenerbahce who are 10 points ahead and Besiktas with 8 points and game in hand.

Galatasaray as a team has made the squad stronger with transfers of Ryan Donk and Martin Linnes and also some improvement at the last game against Sivasspor, but with performance at this year Osmanlispor could be tough opponent as it managed to bring some surprising results including winning Galatasaray back in Istanbul at 1st half of the season. Galatasaray does show some belief and motivation at the players despite of point difference and therefore does make them favourable at the game tomorrow however Osmanlispor is a team which is capable to use weaknesses of Galatasaray which are present. Also it is important for players not to be affected with possible UEFA ban due of FFP issues.

Coming to Osmanlispor, it did provide some surprising results at the 1st half of the season and also win in Istanbul back in August would provide some extra motivation to the team. In performance wise Osmanlispor might not be in same level as Galatasaray but surely motivation of them is high for game.

Besiktas has done smart transfers this week.

At the transfer front, this week has been mainly dominated by successful transfers done by Besiktas such as purchasing Dnipro player Denis Boyko, Spartak Moscow player Aras Ozbiliz and almost signing Getafe player Alexis Delgado.

Main advantage of this transfers is that all of this players does not cost much but have quality which is needed to fill weaknesses of the team and hence make team much stronger for upcoming crucial games. Surely, most focussed transfer and success could be referred as Denis Boyko since it had long and hard negotiations with Dnipro since December but at the end has managed to transfer player who is willing to give his best for the team, as he has mentioned after he arrived to Istanbul. Taking account that he was goalkeeper at last year Europa League final also gives high experience which Besiktas is seeking at its goalkeeper.

With this transfer as always time will show how successful their are, however for now everything of the players past, capability and costs made show that it was smart transfer policy led by Besiktas.
