What happened in Turkish football today? 18.01.2016

Fenerbahce has won an important game which been dominated by referee decisions.

Fenerbahce has won very important game at the cold conditions against troubled Eskisehirspor with 3:0 scoreline and hence has started 2nd half of the Super League and its race for title with a comfortable win and high motivation. Even through the game was taken place at slow pace, it was important for Fenerbahce to get such a comfortable win.

The game has been mainly dominated by decision of the referees especially towards Eskisehirspor such as penalty and unfair red card which led for Fenerbahce to have calmer win then it would get at the different conditions. Fenerbahce as usual in this league has also played in an economical manner with using opportunities to score three goals by Fernandao and Robin van Persie. Fenerbahce has continued its winning flow back-to-back with playing its economical football with once again very good defence not allowing its opponents to create positions. Another factor which has affected for such a game were cold conditions with most players not being used to this conditions and hence not able to move in a pace their used to.

Fenerbahce has got leadership with 1 game more than Besiktas, whose game was postponed due of snow yesterday evening, and now will be able to focus into obtaining results in upcoming weeks and carry on its title race with Besiktas. Following with Turkish Cup, Fenerbahce also starting showing that it develops habit of scoring more than one goals at the game and very likely to carry on like that in upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, Eskisehirspor is still located at the last place at the table and is getting into risk of getting into relegation even more deeper, the team needs to solve its issues with performance and try to raise motivation, or otherwise it might get into positions where it wont be able to leave relegation area.

Right now Bursaspor has more motivation than Trabzonspor.

The game between Bursaspor and Trabzonspor, as been mentioned previously, was very important game for both teams as it had allowed them to get into restart of the problematic season. The winner of those tactical game ended up being Bursaspor which had impressively returned from 2:0 loss to win game with 4:2 scoreline.

One of the main advantages of the Bursaspor was to play at its new stadium and incredible supporters who had shown great support which was not seen almost as on the time when it became historically champions of the league. Trabzonspor during the game has shown that it does have problems at defence and loss of concentration and also despite of controlling ball it hardly had any attacks made during 2nd half of the game. Trabzonspor as club needs lots of issues to solve in the sense of motivation and stamina of the players or their would have problematic second half of the season.

Whoever would won this game will have incredible motivation boost for the second half of the season and it could be said that Bursaspor is better position compare to Trabzonspor right now even through being 3 points behind them at the standings.

Galatasaray needs to carry its winning momentum.

As long as this week snow might not affect it, tomorrow will start Turkish Cup penultimate week which would start among "big 4" teams with Galatasaray who would play against Akhisar Belediyespor. Even through Galatasaray has qualified to next stage, it will surely still aim to get a win to keep its winning momentum which it needs to have if it wants to have chances to get league title.

One of the main issues of tomorrow game is first time performance by newly-signed player Martin Linnes who has joined team with high expectations by football critics and club. Linnes would very likely play one of his best games as he will need to impress club fans and more importantly technical staff. Galatasaray might not still play its best football, but it has got winning motivation and it needs to carry it on tomorrow agaisnt Akhisar Belediyespor. If it achieves that it will go in good mood to play against Osmanlispor at the weekend.

Akhisar Belediyespor meanwhile has shown that it has lost performance which it got during autumn of last year and surely positive result Galatasaray could provide them once again to get back to high performance and fight for European spot at the league.
