What happened in Turkish football today? 21.01.2016

Fenerbahce has won Tuzlaspor despite playing poorly.

The goal by Lazar Markovic at the last minute against Tuzlaspor has carried 100% record for Fenerbahce at the Turkish Cup group stage game despite of very poor and dull game by the team against 2nd league team. Fenerbahce has played one of the worst games of the season probably being aware that it had qualified to the play-off stage and more focussing into the Super League.

In the game generally especially at the start of the game Fenerbahce was the one controlling game as would be expected by them due of gap of experience and quality between two teams however as scoreline was going with 0:0 scoreline, Tuzlaspor has become more confident and starting around mid of 1st half start going forward and trying to create goal-scoring positions. In fact, Tuzlaspor has created number of them but the lack of availability to do last touches has led them not to find a goal. Same in fact, could be said for Fenerbahce whose lack of good last touches has stopped them finding goal during today's game prior to Markovic goal. In fact, coming to the field of the Caner Erkin and Lazar Markovic in game-wise didnt change the way club played and could be probably due of relaxation at the game and focus into the league game on Sunday. Fenerbahce player Lazar Markovic quality shot at 90+1' has brought the winner but again it was quality speaking rather than additional effort given by Markovic.

Up to now Fenerbahce has become among Trabzonspor only team to get 5 out of 5 at the Turkish Cup and has quarenteed to qualify to play-off at the top place at its group. Right now it can fully focus into the Super League until last 16 game. The last minute of goal surely has kept motivation high of the team.

Meanwhile, Tuzlaspor team should be praised for trying to fight and go forward against tough opponent like Fenerbahce and surely it has gained lots of good and bad experiences from this game. This experience could be very crucial for the future of team players.

Uncertainly of Besiktas being arleady at Turkish Cup or not.

Yesterday's loss of Besiktas against Kardemir Karabukspor at the Turkish Cup has released some shock at the media and team as it is being big "4" team and Kardemir Karabukspor competing at the 1st league in the Turkish system, it had treated result in unexpected manner. With the uncertainty if Besiktas actually qualified to play-off stage or not has also raised arguments at the media.

It is unclear how in Turkish Cup the system of qualification works when two points are same and raises discussion if Besiktas did qualify or not, however this talks does not seem to  play much role as the 3 point advantage makes it very likely for Besiktas to qualify to next stage. Besiktas performance at the yesterday was below level of expectation even if the team was playing with much weaker squad and raises questions of this players are ready to be played at main squad. Yesterday loss with 2:0 scoreline has also made Besiktas only team to lose among big 4 teams at the Turkish Cup so far at this season.

Right now Besiktas will focus directly into the Trabzonspor game on Sunday as it is difficult game at which it needs to win if it wants to get this title this season as Trabzonspor was always a team which provided motivation to its opponents or opposite took it away regardless where that team stands at the table.

Hami Mandirali will aim to improve performance of the team.

Trabzonspor carries on its Turkish Cup journey with 5 out of 5 with another win yesterday against Nazilli Belediyespor. The club is showing that it is taking Turkish Cup in a very serious manner and surely has got extra motivation at the game prior to Besiktas, against team who is fighting for the league title on Sunday.

Trabzonspor has also appointed Hami Mandirali, legendary player at the team during 1990's, and surely will aim to start new start at which we could see better Trabzonspor. Mandirali has a great chance to show what he is capable of in the game against Besiktas. Meanwhile, Sadi Tekelioglu who was appointed at first place as temporary head coach does live nice team to Mandirali with high morale and motivation. Being more proffesional coach, Mandirali just needs to find ways how to improve team which it has in its hand.

Trabzonspor is having mixed performance at this season so far but with appointment of Mandirali it will have new beginning and will try its best to get to the better performace at the cup and league.
