2016 version of Galatasaray 1st opponent will be Karsiyaka
Galatasaray will start its 2016 year with Turkish Cup game with Izmir rooted clubs Karsiyaka which has also started its group stage in a very positive manner as did also Galatasaray. In fact, Karsiyaka could be seen as strongest opponent for Galatasaray at this Turkish Cup group stage campaign. Despite of being at 1st league in Turkey, Izmir clubs has always shown high motivation with its plays at Turkish Cup.
The following game followed with mid-week game against same opponents will provide new start for club which aims to get 17 wins out of 17 at Turkish Super League. Getting positive results from those Cup games could provide positive focus for this to achieve by the team. It is unknown yet if Ryan Donk would be playing but it would be right decision by Mustafa Denizli as it will provide some playing time and get used to the team even if it will not contain main players at starting 11.
Karsiyaka will have difficult tasks, as Istanbul club aims to have totally different year of 2016 and to achieve that it will aim to win first game of the year. Therefore, Karsiyaka should focus at defence mainly if it wants to get positive results from game tomorrow.
Trabzonspor main focus is to get Turkish Cup.
Trabzonspor CEO Muharrem Usta has stated that the main aim for this season, with league title being lost for sure now, is to win Turkish Cup and surely to achieve that it will aim to get good results at the group stage which it achieved to do so far. This weekend it would play against Adanaspor which it will very likely to focus on to get a positive result.
Trabzonspor players surely realising that only way to end this season at high spot, with them being at high motivation right now, is to get Turkish Cup title and would likely to do everything to achieve that in this season. It would very likely provide its best football at tomorrow game against Adanaspor.
Adanaspor will have difficult time at game tomorrow and will need to stay focus whole game if it aims to get at least draw from tommorow game.
Turkish Cup will be main focus for next 5 days in Turkish media.
For next 5 days the focus would be given to Turkish Cup games at the Turkish media, which has come after very short period of winter break and will provide teams which might not be 100% ready for those games, which could affect to the performance of the team. As been mentioned beforehand there were plans for club to ask to delay games for one week, but this request has never taken place.
The system of Turkish Cup has been criticised a lot in this blog and one of the those criticism has become apparent right now especially taking acoount of two games coming back to back before restart of leagues. This would bring lots of tiredness of players and it is important for players to get through this upcoming 3 weeks in high positive manner.
For once again it is crucial for Turkish Football Federation to go through current Turkish Cup format because current system only does damage to tournaments.
