What happened in Turkish football today? 20/09/2020

Galatasaray has got win against Basaksehirspor with strong organised game.

Galatasaray has continued its strong start of this season with Super League 2nd week game against Basaksehirspor with some confident performance and ending game without conceding first time since injury of Fernando Muslera despite of their opponents having some good opportunities.

Galatasaray during this performance did once again provide view that it is being at the most in-form side both with how it plays and atittude towards game with most of the players providing high level performance and concentration from start of the game which by itself shows how physically and mentally is at better condition compare to the end of the previous season. It needs to be specific focussed towards Younes Belhanda which is being strongly rumoured that club wants to sell on this summer transfer window while player wants to stay. With such performance Galatasaray could once again consider if he should stay or not with this level of game. Only negative aspect which could be noted is for Galatasaray to provide strong defensive game after 2:0 but on other hand it did go into defensive with getting scoreline which could been dangerous but again it did prevent them with Fatih Ozturk possibly providing his best performance since joining side.

Basaksehirspor on other hand did provide much better performance in 2nd half and especially started showing attacking game after 2:0 which does raise question why it waited for such long time to show such game. Currently title holders didnt find goal in 2 games which would provide lots of worry and area which needs to be focussed by Okan Buruk.

Galatasaray as been noted did have very good start of the season and would now look forward for Hajduk Split at Europa League and after that derby game against Fenerbahce.

Besiktas does provide slow tempo in the start of the season.

Despite of controlling game for most part of it, Besiktas did lose 2 points to Antalyaspor during Super League 2nd week as it provided slow tempo game without providing too much opportunities at the front.

As would be remembered, despite of win against Trabzonspor during opening week,it was visible that Besiktas does have some issues especially with tempo wise and this become even more clear with game against Antalyaspor. Rather then going into more attacking game following 33rd minute goal by Cyle Larin, despite of some opportunities during game it did look like Besiktas was playing into score which is very dangerous tactic with 1 goal leading scoreline. When taking account that Antalyaspor didnt lose game for pretty long time and also having hence high confidence this would been very difficult tactic which led for debut goal by Gokdeniz Bayrakdar at 85th minute and even through Besiktas started providing panic attacking game, it didnt change scoreline.

Besiktas did lose 2 points but on other side it does have some issues with tempo of its game and hence needs to improve on this area at short notice for sure.

Fenerbahce could have some issues against confident opponent.

Following Basaksehirspor Galatasaray game, it could be noted that one of the most anticipated games of this week could be also seen to be Fenerbahce and Hatayspor as both sides did get wins on opening week.

Fenerbahce does come out with strong squad this season does aim for league title without doubt, but its opponent did get unexpected but without doubt well-deserved win against title holders. Therefore, even through it is more or less known how Fenerbahce would be playing game which it is without doubt being favourite to win, it would be interesting to see how Hatayspor will respond as it did get confidence and motivation from beating Basaksehirspor during last week. In addition, it needs to be noted that Fenerbahce didnt provide its best performance and didnt use some of its newly-signed players which are likely to be starting in this game, so we would be much more revised side very likely who would give important signs of this season version of Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce hence does come out as favourite but it would be playing against side which does have confidence prior to this game.
