What happened in Turkish football today? 10/09/2020

Fenerbahce will start new season with Rizespor game.

2020-21 Turkish Super League is going to be started with Rizespor and Fenerbahce as both sides would be aiming to provide strong promising football in new season openning with Fenerbahce taking this game seriously as their aim for league title.

Without doubt Fenerbahce has been most active club during this summer transfer window so far as they were focussing to make squad which would be fighting for league title and now it would be aiming to achieve that with its new head coach Erol Bulut who has joined side this summer also among some new players. It needs to be noted that even through it did get some mixed result during pre-season friendly game it still could be noted that side did have good period during this time and would be aiming with getting best results in this season with starting without doubt win with Rizespor. Meanwhile, Rizespor would be also having aims to provide good start for new season and hence would provide very strong and concentrated game against Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce does come out as favourite but openning week has always been open to surprises and hence Rizespor could provide some strong interesting game.

This season is expects to be very tough for all clubs due of format.

Turkish Super League would be one of the most toughest, or in fact toughest season in its history, as it would be competed with 21 clubs and 42 weeks with only positive side that one side would get bye each week.

It needs to be noted that this decision has been criticised in many aspects such as with Euro 2020 taking place next summer, Covid19 pandemic still continuing, 42 general season and so on. However, final decision has been made and it would be seen how this season would be played with without doubt some factors could be seen as injuries, tiredness and alternative squad which would be issue as many did have issue with signing players. It is aware that clubs are prepared knowing how season would be played but many of external issues out of its control would affect how season would be affected for sure.

Therefore, it would be tough season and clubs which would be managing most well would be able to get title in the end of the season with surprising side having possibility of getting it.

Covid19 could affect to this season development

Another aspect without doubt which would provide circumstances during this uncertain Covid 19 period which would affect without supporters during 1st half of season at least and also threat for leagues to be stopped again.

It does look like either directly or indirectly Covid 19 would be affecting at least 1st half of the season as we might hear some unwanted news from clubs with its players and hence it would be very important without doubt for all clubs to follow guidelines and players to be careful with their actions both within and outside of football fields. While other threat is that situation with Covid19 would be worsened generally in country which does run risk for leagues ot be stopped again which would be unwanted news especially for Super League since it does have specifically long season. Those all aspects could lead to unwanted developments which we would hope wont take place.

As been noted we hope Covid-19 wont affect this season but it does risk to do so during upcoming season.
