What happened in Turkish football today? 08/11/2018

Besiktas has lost an opportunity to get crucial win against Genk.

Besiktas has failed to get an important win for them at the Group I at the Europa League at the away game against Genk even through it was one who was leading game for most amount of the time and has been one which was creating chances.

Even through Besiktas didnt manage to get a draw and still has shown some lack of creativity aspects which could be explained by only finding 1 goal against Belgian side, Besiktas has created some number of the good chances during game and was looking for good control during most amount of the game. Meanwhile, the game has been started with Tolgay Zengin as goalkeeper which could be led to the lack of trust towards Loris Karius for such a crucial game from head coach Senol Gunes. Meanwhile, Besiktas did lose chance of taking two 1st spots among their opponents Genk, but could felt lucky for other game between Sarbsborg 08 and Malmo which has also ended with a draw even through it did keep Besiktas at last place still has led them to have some strong chances for next round as its found itself one point behind two opponents even through an aim for taking leadership at the group is left for some luck as Belgian side has an upper hand between sides and has 3 point advantage over Besiktas as long as its keeps its leadership. There is improvement of Besiktas with today's performance but its not enough for both league and Europa League for now.

Genk meanwhile which has good season both domestically and also in Europa League carries on showing high level performance at the group and has got an important goal at the end of the game keeping their chance pretty high.

As been stated, Besiktas has kept its chances for getting to next stage thanks mainly to their opponents but this performance as it only has one game out of 3 is not enough for them to reach so its need to improve.

Mathieu Valbuena 1st goal during game  has become turning point against Anderlecht.

Fenerbahce has managed to win an important game against Anderlecht during Europa League Group D 4th week game even through it didnt manage to show good attacking game until Valbuena has scored on 71st minute.

It needs to be noted that Fenerbahce is failing to show an attacking and effective game until it finds a goal as it provides pretty slow game and wasnt able to get an upper hand and in fact at the end of the 1st half, Anderlecht has been one who has controlled game and get into chances even through their had lack of last touches. However, with Valbuena taking an upper hand during 2nd half has become most important aspect as Valbuena has scored from half shot half cross and later has provided a very important assist to the Frey who has scored his 2nd goal at Europa League. Mathieu Valbuena needs to be stated has found himself and start showing great performance with Erwin Koeman becoming head coach of the side. With all positive aspects which was shown after finding goals, it needs to be stated that Islam Slimani still shows poor performance as he is wasting high number of the chances as he isnt capable of providing last winning touch even when he was one who has created chances solely but even then he has wasted with providing final touch. Still, Fenerbahce win with finding 2 goals without conceding would provide an important motivation.

Anderlecht did come out to the game with an aim to win game and has provided organised game but it was visible that team in quality manner are weaker against Fenerbahce as it couldnt provide much organised game with also getting strong defence from Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce has got an important win and is likely to secure knockout stage if it doesnt make any big mistakes and still has good chances to aim for leadership at the group in last 2 games.

Akhisarspor has been unlucky as it almost got historical point against Sevilla.

Even through Akhisarspor has lost to Europa League Group J favourites Sevilla and after 4th week has 0 points, it has shown a memorable performance against Spanish side as it has returned from losing game with 2:0 to 2:2 and has been unlucky to concede goal at the end.

As been mentioned at the previous games, apart of previous game against Sevilla which it has lost to game with 6:0 scoreline, Akhisarspor has shown great character and fighting spirit leading Sevilla which has been coming confidently from previous game and getting 2:0 suddenly has got unexpected turn of the events from their side conceding 2 goals back to back. It also needs to be stated that Akhisarspor also got chance from penalty but didnt manage to turn around. With taking around that Akhisarspor has come out to its 1st tournament and doesnt have much experience and expectation for this competition, it got an important experience and did mark their mark in their games apart of previous Sevilla game. Akhisarspor fans and head coach Cihat Arslan should feel proud of this performance for certain.

Meanwhile, Sevilla has got 9 points and got an important result for knockout stage even through in its perspective their might feel unhappy for them to almost lose points against weakest link at group while winning 2:0.

Akhisarspor has got an important experience and would need to look for last 2 games in similar manner aiming to show brave and positive football without thinking too much of having risk at ending group with 0 points.
