What happened in Turkish football today? 07/11/2018
Galatasaray has provided poor performance against Schalke 04 as it made its chance for knockout stage low.
Galatasaray has lost to Schalke 04 during Champions League Group D 4th week game with 2:0 scoreline and hence has found themselves 4 points behind 2nd placed opponent and has put their chance for knockout stage into difficulty with 2 games left.
Galatasaray recent poor performance has carried on during Schalke 04 game even through to some extend it was unlucky when it has conceded goal due of unexpected mistake from Fernando Muslera who made mistake during 2-games back to back as he has been also mistake at Fenerbahce game also. Even through Galatasaray did create number of the chances after that goal it was visible that lack of having an attacker at the team did affect to its performance and it has lost its tempo and organisation due of not being able to start game with best squad and also without an attacker. When Schalke 04 scored 2nd goal in start of the 2nd half, the game has been completed as Galatasaray has lost all of the confidence and didnt provide much fast tempo game which as would be expected has been went into hand to their German opponents and team has certainly dissapointed with its performance against Schalke.
Galatasaray also has 4 point advantage over Lokomotiv Moscow, who didnt get any point, and with at least aiming for Europa League after new year, it would need to get at least point to secure this with 1 game in hand.
Fenerbahce would come out to win against Anderlecht.
Fenerbahce would be coming to pretty crucial game against Anderlecht during Europa League Group D game as their win could provide them strong advantage to get to the knockout stage with 2 games left at group stage.
Fenerbahce assistant coach Erwin Koeman, who took place of Phillip Cocu, did provide good result for team against Galatasaray last week and despite of team not playing good game for most amount of time, did get trust from administrators at least for next 2 games. Playing at home and taking account level of Anderlecht as team, Fenerbahce would be coming as strong favourite for a game but even more important here is for team to provide some fighting spirit and willingness for team to win as it needs motivation both for Europa League and Super League right now. It is clear that Koeman has managed to obtain motivation and confidence from Galatasaray game and even more crucially has gained confidence and trust to Mathieu Valbuena who has been lacking at the team from time when he has joined team more or less. Anderlecht would also provide some attacking game quite possibly to keep its chances for knockout stages, but Fenerbahce does look as favourite.
It needs to win game to keep its chances arrive for next round and certainly would come out to the game with such focus at the mind.
Besiktas can turn around group to its advantage if their win against Genk.
Besiktas would be coming to an important game against Genk as it is currently based at the last place at the group, with this group being very intense for now, it is only 1 point behind 2nd place and also leaders and tomorrow opponent Genk with 3 points.
With this taking into account, Besiktas with a win even get from last place to the leadership but with previous against Genk, which has shown pretty positive performance and quality game it doesnt look to be an easy task with also taking in mind that game would be playing in Belgium. What is more crucial here that Besiktas are not showing great performance at recent seasons, and doesnt provide full trust to the team and hence it is important for a team to get rightly motivated for the game and provide a performance which is needed in such important game as loss could provide into difficult position at getting to knockout stage. Besiktas with full look needs not only to win game but also with showing a good performance to get confidence for upcoming weeks at both tournaments. Genk in other hand not only showing good performance at group but also at domestic league so their would be playing at home ground with full confidence and motivation.
Besiktas would come out at the team with strong chance at ending group as leaders but loss could lead them into difficult position to qualify so players would need to come out to the game with being aware of this.
