What happened in Turkish football today? 17/11/2018

Turkey has been relegated to League C after penalty scored by Granqvist.

Turkish National Team has been relegated to League C at the Nations League after losing to Sweden as it has conceded goal from Granqvist at the penalty kick which led to 1:0 scoreline and pushing Turkey to last place.

It needs to be stated that Turkish National Team has started game in great manner with creating chances at the 1st minute of the game and has continued to do so for around 20 minutes as it was clear that aim was to find an early goal. However, as game has continued especially during 2nd half, Turkish National Team performance has been going down and has lost tempo which went into advantage of the Swedish National Team and has become one who was creating chances and has provided much more pressure. Turkish National Team it needs to be stated that in overall didnt provide full focus and concetration to all the tournament or either was case with Mircea Lucescu as side is going to provide worser performance as time progresses and has dropped into one division as Turkey would find itself at League C which with taking account previous, even through occasional successes of the team, will not be acceptable. It was also interesting to see team  which was coming for a game which it needed to win and actually did start at this manner has lost its passion and focus of the game which has led to loss at its home ground at the game which Sweden has won.

It needs to be stated that key of the game has been mainly patience which was shown by Swedish National Team which has provided an organised game which has led to penalty which was scored by Granqvist. With coming to the game with 1 point and being with risk of being eliminated now has chance to get to League A and play-off round if it manages to beat Russian National Team on 20th November.

Turkish National Team has been relegated to League C which is before level at the tournament and right now team needs to figure out what it did wrong and provide focus to Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Fikret Orman mainly speaks about past rather than future.

Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman during clubs administrative meeting in his speech has stated that he would run for presidency once again in upcoming May 2019 election, also stating that he doesnt accept all criticism and protests from supporters in recent period.

During his speech, Fikret Orman has mainly been focussed into his previous achievements as CEO reminding that fans did show great support towards club and the team has got 2 league titles in last 3 seasons and also had great Champions League campaign last season. It does look like Orman does have failure at looking into past achievements rather than look into future as his speech has mainly discussed not into what he would be doing for the club for the future but what he has achieved, which needs ot be stated has sounded pretty similar to Fenerbahce ex-CEO Aziz Yildirim during past election which we as remembered led him lose with big difference. Fikret Orman does have advantage that for now he would be running as sole candidate for CEO election but he needs to be mentioning about his future past as everyone would be hoping for team to go forward.

It is true that Fikret Orman did many things for Besiktas in recent periods but he does have difficult period right now and people would like to hear how he would move team forward which it looks like he has no much idea himself.

Fenerbahce are interested to transfer Bafetembi Gomis.

Probably one of the surprising and unexpected transfer rumours which was heard during today's Turkish sports media are rumours that Fenerbahce are interested to transfer Al Hilal player Bafetembi Gomis.

According to rumour, Fenerbahce is having long-term transfer negotiations with player and that was one of the main reasons why player has arrived to Istanbul in past days, but this are only based into rumours. It needs to be reminded that Gomis has left club in summer transfer window due of not agreeing with salary as he has respected lots of cash. It needs to be stated that none of the Turkish clubs at least this season cant afford to spend lots of money with salaries so it would be even hard for Fenerbahce to also afford with Bafetembi Gomis likely demanding higher salary which he recieved from Galatasaray. So, even if those rumours are true it is very unlikely that deal would be made even through their could be some surprise this winter with possible even loaning player from Al-Hilal to some being also an option.

The chances of Bafetembi Gomis in view of this page are low but all would come true as winter transfer window would come even through it is expected to be calm window despite of transfer rumours starting coming up.
