What happened in Turkish football today? 29.09.2016

Fenerbahce has become leaders at the death group after 2 weeks.

Fenerbahce has won very important game at the Europa League Group A game against one of the favourites at the group ,Feyenoord with a quality goal scored by Emmanuel Emenike which has helped team to raise to top spot at this death group.

Fenerbahce has provided most organised game since head coach Dick Advocaat has joined the team without making any big mistakes especially at the defence front. The team didnt allow for Feyenoord to create any chances and has controlled ball for most of the time and even through its attacks could be criticised not to be very successful its still was looking for this chances at the front. One of the improvements which was seen also was for Fenerbahce to stay focussed to the game at the last 10 minutes, problem which has been existed for long time for Turkish clubs at the European games. Jeremain Lens has once again become one of the key players of the league showing his capability of keeping ball at his own control with availability to pass  his opponenets with an ease. In fact, his chance of scoring at the 2nd half could become one of the memorable goals if he didnt have problem at the last touch as he shot with an umcomfortable side of the leg.

Feyenoord meanwhile has performed much below performance of its expectations and has raised questions how it did manage to win every official game so far this season, including 1st week game at the group against Manchester United. I think it will be smart to underline that Feyenoord was not at its best, but Fenerbahce will be glad it wasnt.

Fenerbahce has managed to get an important win and become leaders at the death group of the Europa League as it would be playing against Manchester United at upcoming two games at the group. With 1 point advantage over its main rivals one point even from this two games could be crucial for them.

Osmanlispor has lost its first game at the Europa League this season.

Osmanlispor has lost its first game to the Swiss club Zurich at the Europa League at is first season at the tournament, in the game where it was expected actually to get a confident win.

This loss could be given to the factor that it was first game at the away game in the tournament proper and hence this factor could have an negative impact to the focus and concentration of the team including the excitement. In fact, Osmanlispor did manage to turn game into 1:1 score by the goal of the Maher at the 73th minute which provided some chance to provide a great comeback towards last minutes but it had conceded again after 7 minutes of the game by Zurich player Cavucevic. This was first loss by Osmanlispor head coach Mustafa Resit Akcay after 17 games which has obtained from other teams. The team has acted without much concentration and has lost 3 points to the Zurich.

Zurich meanwhile has used its home advantage in very effective manner and has provided very attacking football by winning very important game against very in-form Osmanlispor. Even through Osmanlispor is at the Europa League for first time, Zurich was coming out as outsiders however by effective game it has won the game with 2:1 scoreline.

Osmanlispor should stay focus meanwhile since it has real good chance to get to the next stage at the tournament and should use its home advantage at the 3rd week against Villareal in Ankara.

Konyaspor doesnt provide football at the level of Europa League.

Konyaspor carries on poor start of the Europa League after losing 2 games back-to-back this time to the Belgian side Gent. This result does show that Konyaspor is not at the same strength as it was at the past season and is not in level needed for this tournament.

As usual, this result has been given at the experience of the side which showed that most of the players are unable to compete at this level of the football and only positive matter which team is obtaining from this season competition is an experience. Taking account that it has provided defensive football once again which has cost them many games arleady in this season does prove that team would have big issues at the season and it does need to find solutions to those issues as soon as it can. It does look that the team will focus at the tournament as chance to get experience.

Belgian side Gent didnt have much issues at the game and has controlled whole game without recieving too much pressure from Konyaspor and has obtained unfortunately an easy win.

Konyaspor will play very tough game against Braga and surely this performance will not provide much hope for that game.
