Turkey gets an important draw against Croatia at World Cup qualifier.
Turkish National Team has started its campaign for the World Cup qualifier with an important draw against Croatian National Team as it is being one of the main rivals at the group and also taking account that it was played in Zagreb.
The game itself was pretty slow paced, as would been expected with no supporters being present at the game due of the ban, however both sides did create number of dangerous attacks with Croatia getting around 4 posts during the game. Interesting part is that the goals has came from set pieces with penalty kick by the Rakitic and great free-kick goal from Hakan Calhanoglu, both goals coming at the end of the 1st half. It does need to say that this squad, which contained much younger players compare to Euro2016 game against Croatia, even through was not perfect did provide better performance and gives some hopes for qualifying in general despite of poor performance at friendly game against Russia. It does need to say that no supporters also went into hand for Turkey as it is certainly slowed down tempo of Croatia which would been faster if fans were present.
It needs to state that with those circumstances Croatia did show good football and does show it would be hard one to beat as a team. It did create dangerous attacks but with good skills from Volkan Babacan and also help of the posts Turkey got this important draw.
Turkey has got a point from one of the important rivals at the group and it would play its next game in Konya against Ukraine which is certainly is among main rivals, among Croatia and Iceland for top 2 spots at group. Taking great positive from them on 6th October could put Turkey into advantage place at early stage of the qualifiying.
Akhisar Belediyespor has appointed Tolunay Kafkas as head coach for 2 years.
Akhisar Belediyespor has announced that it has appointed head coach Tolunay Kafkas as its new head coach for 2 years after firing its previous successful coach Cihat Arslan. It does need to be stated that it would be hard job for Kafkas to fulfill successes shown by Arslan.
According to the rumours earlier at the week, it became clear that Cihat Arslan has been fired due of the his connection with the FETO organisation which is as known has led to massive clean-up at the different organisation around the Turkey following attempted coup d'etat on 15th July. It is therefore easy to assume that Tolunay Kafkas has no connection with the FETO or at least it is not known at the public. Kafkas meanwhile is also coming to the club which has very high aims for upcoming season and aims to get European spot for next season therefore he has lots of things to do and expects to provide great results as the season develops.
Tolunay Kafkas has been spend his career as head coach in most of the Super League teams but always been at the mediocre teams and to some extend Akhisar Belediyespor is among them but taking account that it would aim for top 5 position, it would be interesting to see how he would achieve that.
FFP has led big clubs to use cash more smartly and effectively.
One of the main advantages of the Financial Fair-Play regulation from UEFA is that it has led for big 4 teams to spend much less amount of cash at the transfer which their used to and even through in start of the summer it looked an issue, it had instead become positive thing for those teams.
As big 4 teams still aimed to become strong as side, their went into loaning quality players and hence saving cash and making their team stronger. In fact, their been so successful at saving cash that now their have much more cash for winter transfer window and summer transfer window than their would in normal circumstances. From announcement from Galatasaray administrator Levent Nazifoglu, club has saved 14 million euro from last summer while Fenerbahce according to media has saved 23 million euro. This cash could be used very effectively at midseason and next summer and could help them still stay at the regulation of FFP. Even through numbers of saved cash has not been reported for Besiktas and Trabzonspor, its easy to say their did save cash especially Besiktas who dont have expensive players like Jose Sosa and Mario Gomez anymore.
Saving cash and using loan way of obtaining players did good thing for big teams in Turkey and has led to save high number of cash without probably affecting negative to the transfer window.
