What happened in Turkish football today? 01.09.2016

Turkish National Team needs lots of areas to improve on with its play

Turkish National Team has started its first preparation for the World Cup 2018 route with a friendly game against Russian National Team which are also hosts of the tournament. It needs to be stated that much changed team from Euro 2016 didnt provide high hopes to the game before Croatian National Team due of slow game played.

The game has ended with goalless draw with both sides having trouble at creating chances due of not being fully ready to the game and also issues which has been arisen from high heat and humitidy at the Antalya. As been mentioned before at our blogs, both teams are going through big revisions following Euro 2016 and this is beginnig of this route with both teams trying to find problems at current team and find ways how to bring positive results. Russian National Team of course has two years to prepare while Turkey needed to be ready for its 5th September game against Croatia as first World Cup qualifier and yesterday performance did raise some questions prior to the game. One of them being on-going issue at the midfield area which does need to be solved if it wants to get positive results from game against Croatia.

Turkish National Team head coach Fatih Terim surely has recognised problems which were present at the game and now needs to solve them for game against Croatian National Team. This performance is surely is not enough.

Galatasaray transfers Nigel de Jong

Even through in overal summer transfer window compare to previous ones has been ended in calm manner the last day transfers has been very active indeed with agreements and contract being signed almost whole day. One of them is transfer of LA Galaxy player Nidel de Jong to Galatasaray.

The aim of Galatasaray was finally to find an alternative to its previous star player Felipe Melo and there is belief at the club that their did finally found an alternative for him as de Jong is known to be very agreesive player. He stated himself at the signing of contract that he has fighting spirit and even has nickname is King Kong. Surely, de Jong transfer would provide lots of strength to the Galatasaray and would make team to be more agressive characteristics which ws missing at the team for long time. It is also plus that he had played number of game back at the MLS prior to arriving as he would be ready to the league.

It does look that Nigel de Jong would be great alternative to Felipe Melo due of style of play but his performance at the Super League would become more clear as league progresses.

Besiktas transfers Gokhan Inler.

Another one of the memorable deadline transfers has been signing of the Leicester City player Gokhan Inler, Turkish expat from Switzealand, who was a player which Besiktas and other Turkish teams has been tried to transfer for long time for now.

With great experience both at the club and international level Gokhan Inler would surely provide lots of help at his current team and being forward looking player would play an important role at creating chances during the game. He could be one of the key players for the success at the Champions League if it comes, due of experience. Gokhan Inler has also stated that he is true Besiktas fan and has been supporting team from childhood, and if this case and not just publicity stunt by him, than it would also do great job for a club as it always been underlying of having players who give their all and not playing only for cash.

Gokhan Inler could become one of the key transfers for Besiktas at this summer and surely would provide big help at the team with his experience he gained around Europe.
