What happened in Turkish football today? 22.09.2016

Trabzonspor needs to carry on yesterday success at the Super League.

It was important for Trabzonspor to get a confident result against Serhat Ardahanspor at the Turkish Cup 2nd round game as the team was going through difficult period at the league and also with its supporters. It has managed to get a positive result with 6:0 confident win.

Following the game, Trabzonspor head coach Ersun Yanal did state however that the scoreline was not important for them during yesterday's game as it was more crucial for them to check how is squad is ready for upcoming games especially substitutes and reserves. The squad which was presented by Yanal meanwhile needs to be stated was a mixture of both players from starting 11 and also ones who dont get much playing time. Even through, it is hard to comment about Trabzonspor while playing against weak time, it did show lots of togetherness during the game which was important to see.

For now, it is important for Trabzonspor to aim to continue this performance at the league starting with pretty tough game against Konyaspor on 24th September and start getting good results at the Super League.

Away games ban has been lifted by Provincial Security Committee.

The main news at the Turkish football world today was an announcement by Provincial Security Committee news that the away games supporters ban has been lifted after 5 years, starting from this weekend Super League 5th week game between Besiktas and Galatasaray.

The lift has been placed at first place due of raise of hooliganism behaviour among derby games in Istanbul and to prevent this and to put as some kind of punishment the ban was placed. Until, now it was always seem to be too early for ban to be lifted as their were arguments also taking place outside of the stadiums. However, with the events in Turkey during of the attempted coup d'etat on 15th July, Club's Union following mood of togetherness in Turkey has requested for ban to be lifted. Following number of talks between club's, mayorship, police and security it was finally decided for the ban to be lifted which means Galatasaray supporters will be able to come to the Super League 5th week game between Besiktas and Galatasaray.

Even through this is good news and this blog approves this decision, it needs to be remembered that union at the national interests of the public is not same as between fans. As it was remembered, during Super Cup game back last month there was some hooliganism activism and hence both clubs, security and fans need to be careful for some provacative of fans will not take place.

UEFA has changed kick-off times of home games for Turkish clubs after clocks change in Europe.

When Turkish government few weeks has announced that from this on, country will not change clock on time-saving zone this year, one of the biggest question arisen was how it would affect to the UEFA games.

UEFA has made an announcement today that there was be change of kick-off times for home games at the Champions League and Europa League, with those games starting 2 hours earlier or 1 hour earlier from usual time. Champions League Turkish games played at home will kick-off at 20:45 while in Europa League it would be kicked of 21:00 or 19:00. This times would allow to not affect to the next section in other words people who would be viewing those games would be able to watch normal kick-off time of other games at 23:45 and Europa League at 00:05. Those decision would surely be able to keep its supporters to come to game without worrying too much about returning home.

Those decisions needs to be stated would only affect home games and will not have any impact to away games of Turkish teams obviously.
