What happened in Turkish football today? 12.09.2016

Fenerbahce is lacking of classic 10 player which provides all issues to the squad.

Fenerbahce has presented the worst start to the league since its first season back on 1959. It didnt manage to win any games during first 3 weeks with having only 1 point after draw against Kayserispor last week. More worrying this is 2nd time team didnt win at the home ground this time against Bursaspor.

Fenerbahce has terminated contract with its previous head coach Vitor Pereira and had replaced him with Dick Advocaat to solve passive football and provide more attacking football however it doesnt seem to solve those issues and has huge problems without having classical 10 player which it was seeking to transfer during whole summer transfer window. Its absence and uncreative players at the midfielder play an important barrier for team to creating dangerous attacks at the front. Dick Advocaat does state several times for now that the team has serious issues at the squad with many players not being too creative and hence it have issues to provide more impressive football.

Right now Fenerbahce needs to forget about its very dissapointing start at the league and focus to 1st week game against Zorya at the Europa League seeing it as an seperate tournament from Super League and aim for a win in the must-win game on Thursday.

Trabzonspor is far away from its golden period.

Trabzonspor after providing good performance at the 1st week of the Super League has carried on league with two losses back to back and as been mentioned start providing performance which it was giving during previous season.

It does need to be stated that it was playing against strong opponent which is Osmanlispor which has set high aims for this season and Mustafa Resit Akcay, Osmanlispor head coach, has stated after game that their opponent were stronger than last season. However, it is clear that Trabzonspor is very far from its performance back at the 2009-10 season and also from its golden years in 70s-80s. It was aimed to have transition season but it didnt achieve to follow on that and has provided another dissapointing season. The team newly-signed players also provide an image that their not for the league and still need time to adapt which might take longer than expected.

Trabzonspor needs to find solutions of those issues pretty soon or once again it would become team playing at the middle of the table at the best and provide dissapointment to its supporters.

Besiktas needs to show good performance against Benfica for motivation of rest of the tournament.

Besiktas is going to start its 2016-17 Champions League against Portuguese club Benfica after not being present at the tournament after 6 years. Even through game wise Besiktas did provide an image not close to previous season its win against Karabukspor with 3:1 scoreline does provide some optimism for Benfica game.

Besiktas did provide since last image view that way Besiktas is playing is way beyond for this league but the Benfica game if this is performance is enough for success at the Champions League as it would play its game against very tough opponents and would aim to provide surprise result. In fact, in this game taking account level of opponent performance of the team could be more crucial than score as it is important for players to be self-belief and focussed to the tournament taking account that many players at the squad would experience this level of football 1st time in that career, only competing at the Europa League in previous season. Most important thing for team to be confident that it can succeed.

Benfica game will not be an easy one for Besiktas but if doesnt show fear and stay focus it can get surprising result and provide a good image of them for the tournament.
