What happened in Turkish football today? 28.09.2016

Besiktas has started well but slowed down towards end against Dinamo Kiev.

Besiktas has obtained 2nd draw with same 1:1 scoreline at the Group B 2nd week game against Ukrainian champions Dinamo Kiev where the game has been played really in two different halves with Besiktas dominating at the 1st half and Dinamo Kiev at the 2nd half.

In fact, the way Dinamo Kiev has started the game and played whole 1st half it did look like that Besiktas will not have much trouble at winning the game as long as it does achieve finding the goal which it did with Ricardo Quaresma at the 29th minute. This free kick goal was also went into history as the first goal by Besiktas at the European tournaments at their new stadium Vodafone Arena. After the goal Besiktas has build its performance with carrying on providing an attacking football and creating chances with players such as Talisca, who in fact carried on finding good chances at the 2nd half. But Dinamo Kiev has shown great response after the break and has provided much attacking football which led Besiktas playing more defensive football with occasionally finding chances. The goal by Tsygankov has surely provided shock effect to the team at the 65th minute and Besiktas had trouble to response to that. But still Besiktas found some attacks but its performance wasnt same as in 1st half.

Dinamo Kiev has provided game of two halves with very poor performance during 1st half but with Champions League response where team need to do show reaction while losing it has improved game and has found a point which could be very crucial for them in upcoming weeks and hence making this group very open for 2nd place between 3 teams.

Besiktas is currently at the 2nd place with 2 points while Napoli has 100% record so far and Benfica and Dinamo Kiev with 1 point, so Besiktas is in good condition but it is certainly needs two wins more at least to qualify to knockout stages.

Fenerbahce needs to stay focussed against Feyenoord.

Fenerbahce will be playing a very tough game against Feyenoord as it could become one of the key games of the Europa League  2nd week games. As it is known, Dutch team is coming without losing any games and has upper hand at the group hence is favourite at the game.

In the group which everyone sees it as in the level of the Champions League, Feyenoord has got an important win against Manchester United at the 1st week while Fenerbahce has drawn against Zorya with 1:1 scoreline. Assuming that English side also win tomorrow against Zorya, loss to Fenerbahce could bring them into very difficult condition. If Fenerbahce does aim to get out of the group stage it must win tomorrow. But as stated this will not be an easy task at all as Feyenoord is dominating with its football in domestic and Europa League and Fenerbahce does need to play with its best football or even better to get a win at the home ground. Meanwhile, game will recieve specific interesting as this is first time Dirk Kuyt will play against his former club, and it would be special for him taking account game is in Istanbul.

Fenerbahce as stated needs to play its best and stay focus whole time as Feyenoord will not forgive them and will be hungry for goals. If it achieves that it can make surprise result.

Osmanlispor are favourites to win Zurich.

Osmanlispor meanwhile would aim to carry on its undefeated record of this season at the Europa League where including qualifiers it has 6 games and drawn only 1 so far. It can achieve that as it would be playing against Swiss team Zurich, the team which doesnt expect to provide much issue to Osmanlispor.

Osmanlispor head coach Mustafa Resit Akcay keep saying that he is priority is Super League but great performance of his team at the Europa League is no exception. Their performance even recieved coverage from UEFA website and Zurich quite rightly might feel themselves to be underdogs and would likely to defend against them. If that would be case it can even make Osmanlispor case easier tomorrow. It is known that apart of small successes ocassionaly, Swiss clubs are pretty at poor form now and this factor does also play as plus sign to Osmanlispor who are in great form. Its important as always in European games for Osmanlispor to stay focus and play its own games and it wont have much issues tomorrow.

Osmanlispor does come out as favourite to a game, a great achievement meanwhile for a team which competes at the tournament first time in its history.
