What happened in Turkish football today? 07/05/2020

TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir has made it clear that 12th June is not final date for restart of the Super League.

TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir has announced that plans for league to be resumed has been set to 12th June, but has stated crucial statements that this date been set for now and would be open to go for revision if circumstances would lead.

It is clear that this decision did come out from TFF themselves as it is reported that many clubs are feeling unhappy due of possible circumstances this could have towards psychology of players who would be worried of not getting virus during whole game, especially ones who are living with families due of physical contacts. In fact, due of same reasons it needs to be noted that possibility for virus to be recieved is being pretty high right now due of game being contact sport. With same reason there is also strong worry that virus would be spreading once again this time among footballers which could lead for higher circumstances to the Super League both in this season and next one. Therefore, it needs to be noted that this decision is not been final one for sure and would be likely to be going through revision both from Science Committee, as Ozdemir when stating that this decision is been made for now.

Therefore, date for restart of the season is being set as 12th June but things could be changing in upcoming weeks with date to be moved according to circumstances.

Clubs feel insecure for leagues to be resumed.

High number of the Turkish clubs CEO, players and head coaches are unhappy with this decision to restart season on 12th June and believe that it least resume date should be moved to even further date as condition are not same.

It is reported that 4 clubs in the Super League would prefer for leagues to be cancelled entirely while other 4 clubs would be willing to complete this season but with resume date being even further. As been noted, their main concern is being for its not being entirely safe to do so, which very likely TFF itself is aware of. Sadly, it does look this decision has been motivated due of financial issue as TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir in his statement did provide high level of time discussing about possible financial circumstances not starting league could have do deals with broadcaster and sponsors. Clubs are also being unhappy due of factors that it is not being clear how games would be played to reduce possibility of virus to be spreading during games since possibility of someone to get infected is being pretty high. Those issues quite understandbly do make club CEO feel in uncomfortable manner in sense of health of its players and staff, and TFF needs to find ways to make it clear to them that it risk for virus to spread will be minumum.

Most of the CEO, coaches and players feel insecure about TFF decision to restart season and this would surely affect how their would perform during games.

Nihat Ozdemir is not aware that whole club would be affected when one person would get positive test for Covid19

Another aspect which has been risen from TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir during his announcement, is statement that if player would get positive test for Covid 19 it would not affect to league and he would be counted as injured player.

This statement it needs to be noted is pretty worrying since it provides lack of knowledge regarding this virus. As it is known, virus tend to be spreading among people quite fast which means for precautions reasons all people who has been in contact with infected person, would be also taken into isolation. Therefore, if one player in club would get infected whole side will not be able to play for 14-days which would have direct impact with continuing league. This statement does show that Ozdemir and possibly whole TFF are not aware of this issue during this virus fight, and most importantly doesnt have right plan when such event would be taken place.

Once again this statement by Ozdemir does show that TFF are being very poor with planning as it doesnt have any solution in this scenario which is very likely to happen.
