What happened in Turkish football today? 17/05/2020

Things are still uncertain regarding virus in Turkey.

Despite of Turkey providing some improvement statistically wise with Covid 19 in recent weeks and also normalisation process going into effect in recent weeks, it still provides some questions if fear of defeating virus is going as effective as some people believe in country.

It needs to be stated that with weather improving and government going through normalisation process right now with mix of weekend curfews, with 4 days curfew this week due of 19th May youth and sports holiday does provide some questions. In fact, with normalisation going actively but in same time putting 4-day curfew does raise even more uncertainty. With new cases being less then 3-4 weeks ago it still being unstable with slightly rising in this week despite of Monday. With all this conditions and high risk of 2nd wave coming to Turkey, it is early to restart Super League and it needs to be noted that many players are feeling uncomfortable for leagues to be resumed and would keep players into ongoing stressful. Even through right now seeing league to be completed looks to be more likely, restarting 12th June could be an early date.

Time would show how virus would be spreading in country, but worrying image is that TFF is not ready if things would get worser.

Bundesiga showed how new normal games will be played.

All of the eyes, including of Turkish football commiitee, are being towards Bundesiga which has resumed during this weekend, and even through when coming to direct effect of virus during this game would be clear next week, how games are played becomes clear now.

Even through to some extend, level of game has been actually higher then expected it still needs to noted that lack of supporters into the field and Covid 19 atmosphere did effect to the games. Players did provide much more cautious performance aiming to keep physical contact in the game into minumum level which led to drop of fouls during games also in fact. With Turkish league known to be harsh performances it would be interesting how players would follow with everyone aiming to keep minumum touch as possible. One of the biggest worries with Super League that its quite naturally to expect quality of games to be dropped with this factors, and with honest with Turkish league not being at high level, it would be even less quality in this league.

New normal at football might effect game negatively but it wasnt as bad during Bundesliga game, but it interesting to see how Turkish game wise it would effect.

Nihat Ozdemir doesnt provide trust for safe restart of league for many clubs.

As been noted in yesterday blog entry, sadly TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir fails to provide entirely trust to football followers when coming to question how league will be resumed on 12th June.

Even through TFF did release protocol how spread of virus could be prevented, its still unclear how it could be done during whole game with Ozdemir failing to provide direct answers to this question with only stating that their are determined to end season. Coming to health of players and club staff members not much been discussed apart of league will continue if someone gets positive test. Unfortunately, many people dont feel secure, which includes supporters, doesnt fill secure that leagues would be played in secure manner when it would be resumed and its pretty normal taking account that when teams resumed training session, number of positive cases has suddenly rose.

Nihat Ozdemir needs to provide trust for all 18 teams when leagues would be resumed, all there might be some unwanted nerves in coming weeks.
