What happened in Turkish football today? 09/05/2020
1 player and staff member has got positive result from Covid 19.
Besiktas has announced that one of its players and technicall staff member has got positive results during Covid19 tests, once again making it also visible that virus is still existent in football community, with it being 2nd player from Super League and also Fenerbahce staff member having virus.
It needs to be noted that some clubs from Super League continue or either waiting for results to come back for Covid19 and hence their is possibility for some more to be infected. For some time, it has been seen that people involved in football community dont have Covid 19 and quite opposite are recovering from it, but now its been clear that this main due of the fact that their didnt provide their tests probably believing their were safe or going through it in minor stages. Even through its been low for now, each of positive Covid 19 result would provide pressure to TFF.
Meanwhile, Besiktas has also announced that it has cancelled training session on 11th May due of precaution measures.
TFF doesnt provide trust during Covid 19 pandemic period.
As TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir has announced that Super League would be resuming on 12th June, unless of external cases, there has high level of criticism towards this decision from number of coaches due of the worries.
With Covid19 showing some improvement both with new cases, recoveries on daily basis, this blog and some of the experts still making clear that this is being critical period and it will not dissappear and with its spreading in fast manner could lead for some raise as was seen briefly in duration of 2 days earlier this week. Therefore, with spread of virus is still continuing, regardless its rate, decision to restart on June is being too early and does run high level of worries. Sadly, and as been stated both when leagues were going to be postponed on March and right now, TFF does show thats its incapable to show any trust when coming to Covid 19 prevention with them not providing any strong way how virus could be prevented with spreading. Once again, until TFF does provide clear guideline to prevent Covid19 spreading during game, most clubs will not trust them.
TFF is showing sadly pretty poor control of situation when its need to do most right now and make everyone feel secure.
Shopping and playing football is not same thing.
One of the interesting and surprising defenders for league to be started provide an argument that normalisation of some measures means that leagues could be started, but this such wrong perspective.
First of all, there is some risks with current normalisation process in country and its been done mainly due of economical reasons rather then health conditions to some extend and it would become clear by time if this normalisation needed to be done now. Secondly, this normalisation period such as openning shopping mall, barbers is not same as playing football. In all this aspects social distancing could be practiced in effective manner and could be done without least possibility of virus spread if done correctly. However, with football its being contact sport and social distancing would not be case in contract sport, like football. Therefore, stating that if shopping mall is openning so should be football leagues restarted does go against common sense hence players have higher risk to get infected from virus and this by itself makes it understandably why footballers would feel worried.
Therefore, argument that shopping malls open so should be football league just puts ignorance and lack of knowledge from person who believes this.
