What happened in Turkish football today? 11/10/2020

Why its safe to play football, but not volleyball and basketball?

Turkish Basketball Federation and Turkish Volleyball Federation has announced that it has suspended 2019/20 season due of pandemic situation in country taking account health issues and will not announce champions and relegation in this season.

This decision from TBF and TVF without doubt does raise question for our topic which is how come its not safe to play volleyball and basketball, but seems to be ok to be playing football in today's circumstances. Both federations has stated that in this conditions their were aiming to complete season but condition of pandemic doesnt allow it to do so. Its crucial to note that for both sports season could also be competed in summer. Hence, this decision both from TBF and TVF would not make happy to TFF and its CEO Nihat Ozdemir as it would raise question of why football while other sports is not safe and would once again provide questions if this decision to complete league is based for money reasons. All 3 sports for sure its played in same country and hence have same risks, so why one of them is safe to play while others are not.

Without doubt, Nihat Ozdemir and his team would get even more pressure from this developments and would need even harder to prove its safe to complete Super League.

Ricardo Faty 2nd test turned out to be negative.

Ankaragucu player Ricardo Faty who is reported to be player who has got positive result from Covid 19 last week, has got in his 2nd test negative result and right now both player and club are waiting for 3rd test result.

Either due of possible mistake from 1st test, all recovery from Covid 19 in best scenario, or in worst scenario with 2nd test showing wrong result, which tends to be one of the interesting aspects of this virus, this could be seen good news from club. Due of this uncertainty, quite naturally Faty would be continuing to be in self-isolation until 3rd test result would be coming with negative outcome. Therefore quite naturally player, club and whole Turkish football community would be waiting for 3rd test result.

This for sure is being good news and as always we would be hoping to get more positive news from lack of spreading of virus in football community.

Rumours about Sas resignation did been circulating for some time now with even unconfirmed news earlier that he actually from his post and also new that Reira would be taking assistant coach role for possible in his place. There were talks that Galatasaray head coach Fatih Terim wasnt satisfied with performance of Sas, and in fact did have some disagreements in recent period which did lead for such resignation as Terim saw his performance not enough for this club. Still, both as player and as assistant coach Sas did show good performance and played important role for success of this club since 1990's.

For sure, Sas had great years in club but lack of high level performance and also his heated character possibly led him to resign from his position.
