What happened in Turkish football today? 07.01.2017

Samuel Eto'o will stay at Antalyaspor.

Antalyaspor CEO Ali Safak Ozturk has put an end to the rumours of possible transfer of the Samuel Eto'o to the other club in Turkey by stating today to the media that their would not sell him regardless what kind an offer other teams would provide to them for their star player.

Starting from mid-season transfer window period there was long and high number of teams which shown interested to transfer Samuel Eto'o, which includes Besiktas, Basaksehirspor and Galatasaray. Playing top-class team with having great experience and top performance player it was quite normal for so many transfer rumours to take place. Despite of high number of those rumours, Antalyaspor has always stated that he would stay but media still carried on this conversation. Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes has even stated that he would be good player for a side, but it doesnt need player like him to the squad.

Regardless of this past rumours, it is clear now that Eto'o would stay at the team whatever happens and Antalyaspor has no intentions at all to sell him, with Samuel Eto'o being also happy at the team.

Galatasaray has made deal with PAOK player Garry Rodrigues.

Galatasaray has made a deal with PAOK player Garry Rodrigues and in few days time it is expected that he would arrive to Istanbul to finalise transfer deal with Istanbul side.

Galatasaray has started transfer negotiations with PAOK regarding of the Rodrigues transfer from start of the transfer window and had trouble at making deal with transfer fee. However, it does seem right now that both sides did make final agreement for 3.5 million euro fee for 3.5 year contract. Rodrigues is high quality player with Galatasaray trying everything to transfer him using an upper hand taking account that he was an unwanted man at the team. It was clear that PAOK wanted to sell him this winter but the matter was if he would join Galatasaray. Taking account that PAOK has put fee as  4 million euro but was ok to negotiate transfer fee without recieving any other offers their have make final agreement.

Rodrigues is capable to make team much stronger and is expected to come to Istanbul rather on 9th or 10th January.

Gaziantepspor loans Trabzonspor players Muhammet Demir and Sefa Yilmaz.

Gaziantepspor has started negotiations to loan until end of the season with two Trabzonspor player Muhammet Demir and Sefa Yilmaz as team is certainly aims to reduce squad by signing lots of players at this midseason transfer window.

Gaziantepspor was expecially willing to loan Muhammet Demir as it is known the player had his best period of his career at the team where he had made his name also. Moving to Trabzonspor didnt allow him to provide such a good performance. With also Trabzonspor transferring players like Joao Pereira and Emmanuel Mas and certainly getting even more players it is quite naturally to get rid of high number of players due of the heavy squad. Both players meanwhile are quality players and hence could provide good performance at the Gaziantepspor.

Main focus would likely to be given to the Demir as it would be curious if he would be able to return to his usual top performance at his old club during half year loan.
