Galatasaray ticket to last 16 is right now at their own hand.

Galatasaray has shown very good reaction to the Turkish Cup 5th week game against Elazigspor and has shown by far the best performance at the competition this season with winning game with 4:1 scoreline and getting to the 2nd place prior to last week game.

Until this game, Galatasaray has provided very poor performance at the Turkish Cup and has put its qualification to the last 16 into very dangerous area and was coming out to the game it needed to win. With being lucky that it had played with weakest team at the group, it has shown an attacking seeking performance in the Elazig with Lukas Podolski founding an early goal which to some extend has set right mood to the game. Main goalscorers of the team Lukas Podolski and Eren Derdiyok has played an important role at the game by scoring two goals each. Their didnt allow Elazigspor to get control of game at any moment and as stated above has shown first time performance of the big club at the group  which it was expected to end leaders without any big issues.

Elazigspor as it is known is going through a difficult time at financially and also with the squad so this poor performance at group stage could be understandable and it is certain that club main focus is to solve its internal issues and aim to stay at the 1st league for rest of the season.

With the win against Elazigspor, Galatasaray has got its 2nd place but still didnt mathematically qualify to the next stage of the tournament. Luckily for them, the question of them qualifying is currently at their own hand as their going to play against 24 Erzincanspor which is 1 point behind them and the draw at the next week game would be enough for them to get to last 16 stage ending group at 2nd place.

Besiktas has managed to provide its best football it could at icy field conditions.

Besiktas has managed to win Osmanlispor without recieving too much problem and certainly the game has developed in the calmer manner than was expected by football fans around Turkey. The fact that some of  Osmanlispor key players were missing has played an important role for poor performance by Ankara side.

It needs to be reminded that weather in Ankara was cold due of winter times which has certainly has affected field in negative manner as it was covered with ice. Even through number of Besiktas players and head coach Senol Gunes did state following game that field was in better condition than was expected it was still in condition which would made quality game hard. In fact, if Talisca didnt find goal as early as in 19th minute the game could have developed in different manner as it became clear that it was hard to play high quality football by both teams. Both sides had trouble to be able to create dangerous chances even through effort was given by them.

Right now Besiktas has once again got 1 point behind league leaders of Basaksehirspor and with leaders of league playing against Fenerbahce this weekend it would have good chance to get leadership and that would be main focus of the team in this week.

Fenerbahce needs to win against Genclerbirligi if it wants to get as group leaders at the Turkish Cup.

Following dissapointing result at the Super League 17th week game against Adanaspor, Fenerbahce would now focus to the tough Turkish Cup 5th week game against Genclerbirligi which it needs to win if it wants to end group as leaders.

The chances of that is pretty low it needs to be stated however as Genclerbirligi is currently have 5 point advantage over Fenerbahce at the group stage with 2 games to be played. With Fenerbahce ending group stage as 2nd place, it does have real chance to meet against Besiktas at the last 16 stage which could be surprising and interesting game at early stages of the tournament. Even through task of avoiding that might be looking tough one, Fenerbahce does have chance as long as it wins upcoming next 2 games. Surely, Fenerbahce would also aim to win this game to regain also motivation boost prior to meeting Basaksehirspor this weekend, game which result could identify aims of Fenerbahce at the Super League this season.

Fenerbahce would come out as favourite, but it wont an easy task for them as certainly Genclerbirligi does also aim to finish group as leaders and not to meet with Besiktas at the last 16 and would certainly aim at worst for draw tomorrow.
