What happened in Turkish football today? 21.01.2017
Karabukspor has shown more focus to game compare to Galatasaray.
Karabukspor has provided an impressive and well-deserved win during Super League 18th week game against Galatasaray as it has provided much more focus and concentration towards the game compare to their opponents which certainly recieved big blow at league title race.
Even through going ahead with controversial goal by Yasin Oztekin at the 15th minute, with possibility of having hand ball during the game, Galatasaray wasnt able to show their best game against the team which even through are at the mid-table of the standings, has been among tough opponents to beat as been stated at the game preview at yesterday blog. Galatasaray as usual did actually show control of the game but it wasnt able to create lot and dangerous chances and without able to stop pretty effective counter attacks by Karabuk side which has been led for them to find 2 goals with one from penalty and also the chance where Karabukspor has hit to the post towards end of the game. One of the key players of away games Bruma didnt manage to show high football today and wasn't effective enough to change result of the game as he tends to do so.
It needs to be stated that Karabukspor has done great homework against their opponents with stopping Galatasaray showing effective game especially during 2nd half. One of the stars of the Karabukspor game has been Yevhen Seleznyov who has scored a penalty goal and also providing good control of ball and getting into chances.
Galatasaray with such a crucial week where Basaksehirspor and Fenerbahce will meet has lost an important points as the result of tomorrow game could affect to the title race and needs to analyse this loss for upcoming games.
Fenerbahce would play very critical game against Basaksehirspor.
Without any doubt the key game of the week and also game which would affect outcome of the league for upcoming weeks would be played between leaders Basaksehirspor and Fenerbahce latter being 7 points behind opponents and at the 4th place.
The result of the game is certainly would make Fenerbahce aims more clearer for rest of the season including its chances of getting league title as with losing, it would get to the 10 points difference behind the leaders with the 3 teams ahead of them. One of the disadvantages of the Fenerbahce prior to the games is the fact that high number of players will not be available due of injuries such as Simon Kjaer and Mehmet Topal while Moussa Sow still competing at the African Nations Cup.
Basaksehirspor as it is known has been always been tough team to beat at the league even before this season and so far at this season Basaksehirspor didnt lose a game until big 4 teams. One of the memorable factors of the game is Emre Belozoglu playing 300th games at the Super League against team where he spend most games amount during his long-term career.
The game is more critical to Fenerbahce than to Basaksehirspor who would be happy with draw result prior to game at Kadikoy as it would keep them at title race but Fenerbahce will expect to provide much more risky game as it would need to win game.
Trabzonspor performance against Kasimpasa is hard to predict.
Trabzonspor would meet against Kasimpasa during Super League 18th week at the game where it is pretty difficult to predict result as the Trabzonspor is showing mix of performances this season with showing high football at one game and low football at next.
With Trabzonspor not able to show consistency of the good game and also poor result during Turkish Cup game against Gumushanespor at midweek, it is specifically difficult to use Bursaspor good game at the last week as reference point for this game. However, if Trabzonspor would show same focus to the game as it did against Bursaspor it would be able to get an comfortable win as Kasimpasa is not having great performance this season themselves but if Istanbul side might give their best performances their might be tough side to beat. But as been inclined if both sides do play their best game Trabzonspor would be closer to get the win.
Trabzonspor does need to win the game to make their stay at the league even more comfortable and aim for higher position but even more importantly it needs to get consistent results for rest of the season so it would gain that motivation which this blog has been talking for long time.
