What happened in Turkish football today? 26.01.2017

Besiktas has completed group stage of Turkish Cup without loss.

Besiktas and Kayserispor were among teams which were coming out for the last game while securing last 16 spot and also becoming clear that Besiktas will end as leaders while Kayserispor will be runners-up prior to game. Therefore, the game has been played at friendly game and has ended with 1:1 scoreline.

It needs to be noted that Besiktas didnt play well enough with playing mostly with youth and also arriving to the Kayseri Has Stadium few minutes before kick-off due of deciding to travel the game on the day and also travelling for 4 hours to the stadium due of plane landing to the Adana cause of heavy snowing. Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes has got blame. But taking account circumstances the side will not complain much both regarding of the result and also performance as this game has been for a formality. Taking account that Besiktas has ended game with 1:1 it has completed group stage of the Turkish Cup without loss becoming only to achieve that among big 4 teams. The only negative thing from the game was injury recieved by Omer Sismanoglu.

Kayserispor has also been happy with today scoreline as it has completed Turkish Cup as runners-up prior to start game and had pretty good Turkish Cup campaign. It would meet with Genclerbirligi at the last 16 stage which promises to be a good game between two Super League clubs.

Besiktas has ended last game with according to circumstances without loss which could be good news for them and would now look forward for Fenerbahce next weekend at the last 16 stage of Turkish Cup.

Trabzonspor has managed to win its last game at Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium.

Trabzonspor has completed its pretty unsuccessful Turkish Cup campaign with the 1:0 win against Konyaspor who compare to Trabzon team has arleady saved its leadership at the group for few weeks now.

It was an important game for Trabzonspor in the sense that it was playing its last game at its historical stadium Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium before moving to Senol Gunes Complex on the 28th January against Genclerbirligi. Meanwhile, the goal which was scored by Dame N'Doye at 39th minute has become an historical goal as it was last goal to be ever scored at its old stadium. Trabzonspor as been expected had an extra motivation for playing at home and for Konyaspor this game being only formality it was quite natural for this game to end in such a way.

Konyaspor meanwhile has ended group as leaders and would now meet with Umraniyespor who had created a surprise performance at its group which both contained Akhisar Belediyespor and Bursaspor. Konyaspor would come out to this last 16 game as favourite but Umraniyespor has shown that it can make some surprises.

In overall, Trabzonspor was able to end its last game at the Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium with a win despite of having very poor performance at this Turkish Cup. Right now it would give all focus to complete season well at the Super League starting with Genclerbirligi game on 28th January.

Salih Ucan and Robin van Persie reminded their importance to the team with yesterday performance.

Fenerbahce has completed its Turkish Cup group stage with 3:0 scoreline against Amedspor at the game which was nothing at stake but has provided great chances for Robin van Persie and Salih Ucan to remind coach its significance for their team.

The game as expected and as was stated yesterday was played at slow tempo with both sides playing slow football and just using some chances to show their skills including Fenerbahce youngsters. Salih Ucan and Robin van Persie who are in risk for not being selected at starting 11 in rest of the season for long time has got chance to remind everyone their skills and to some extend has managed that. It did gain a motivational boost to the team as it would meet against Kayserispor on 28th January.

Fenerbahce would now meet with Besiktas at the Turkish Cup last 16 which promises to be an exciting game with both teams giving their best to win the game as all of the big teams always tend to be special regardless in what tournament their meet.
