What happened in Turkish football today? 06.11
Games are not won with good defence.
While solving one issue during yesterday game against Ajax, Fenerbahce seems to have issues at another section at the field. Undoutedly, defensively Fenerbahce has provided very great game but same could not be said for attacking side which was provided at the game.
While not allowing lots of movement to the Ajax players at the front and not allowing them organised attacks, it didnt manage to do in last 10 minutes. Regarding of this 10 minutes, those positions could be comfortably categorised as goal opportunities if only the shots were done in more effective manner.
After the game, Fenerbahce head coach Vitor Pereira can state that his team had played great defensively and even become praised by Ajax head coach Frank de Boer, but unfortunately goals dont come by great defense.
Besiktas needs to be focussed
It does look like that Besiktas has decreased with its performance, especially in attack due of 3 draws in last official 3 games, 2 in Europa League and one at the Super League. Besiktas has nothing to worry about yet as it still has league and Europa League to some extend in its control but poor performance lately does raise some questions.
Mario Gomez since arriving had least effective game yesterday but that was mainly due of factor that his teammates didnt provide him with balls which he likes to score with. In similar manner, defensively Besiktas has played well, but again with number of counterattacks by Lokomotiv Moscow it does raise some issues.
In last few seasons when Besiktas is having good start to season it is notice that it start playing poorly lately. Is it because of external issues or loss of concentration is another factor, but right now Besiktas needs to be careful and stay focus at it set aims, which are presumably league title and Europa League success.
Tough game awaiting Galatasaray
Galatasaray return to the Turkish Super League will be against Rizespor tomorrow evening, a team which could provide some surprises at the game.
Rizespor, compare to Galatasaray, had more than a week break due of no league games at weekend due of elections in Turkey. Rizespor prior to game had stated that its main advantage is tiredness which Galatasaray due of active travelling in this week.
Galatasaray undoubetly goes to the game as favourite with its latest performances, but Rizespor is among teams at the league which is hard to beat. As usual, Galatasaray just needs to stay focus and respect its opponent if it wants to turn from Black Sea city with 3 points.
