What happened in Turkish football today? 04.11
Yasin miss is unbelievable but he is not only one to be blamed.
Following yesterday loss of Galatasaray against Benfica with 2:1 scoreline, the biggest anti-hero of the game from sports observers view and Galatasaray fans was seen as Yasin Oztekin who has missed almost an empty goal at the last minute of the game. Even club's head coach Hamza Hamzaoglu has criticsied Yasin Oztekin after the game.
However, saying that Galatasaray has lost only because of that free-kick would be done unjustice to whole game in general. Galatasaray as a team, even through didnt play too badly, didnt provide enough quality football to get the win. In addition, club has conceded goals from set pieces, problem which has existed in Turkish football in general for a very long time.
Galatasaray chances to qualify are still possible mathematically but it needs win Atletico Madrid on week 5 in Madrid or otherwise it will need to think about Europa League, which it will fight with Astana.
Tomorrow game will be able to realise if Besiktas is having problems in performance.
Besiktas which been praised for long time at blog as best team in the Turkey currently is going to play against Lokomotiv Moscow by not winning last two games. First was a draw against Lokomotiv on 3rd week followed by draw against Kasimpasa. However, it is hard to state if the club is going downside and it will be more clear from tomorrow game.
Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes and administrators are quitly rightly worried for those results as in previous seasons club has started well but could not carry on performance until end of the season. There are reports that Senol Gunes was angry to his starting 11 team who have lost 5:0 yesterday in training game against reserves. This shows how worried are the team.
Meanwhile, Lokomotiv itself is not in great condition as it has lost two games at national league after game Besiktas. Both side seems to be in downside and strongest or less affected will be advantage tomorrow, and it can be Besiktas.
Robin van Persie is especially motivated for game against Ajax
Game between Ajax and Fenerbahce at Europa League is very crucial for both teams as the winner will carry on having chances to qualify. Fenerbahce in previous game has proven that it is capable to control and win against Ajax but this time game is played in Amsterdam which makes Dutch side more advantegous.
Following game has put extra motivation to Robin van Persie as he needs to prove against Dutch national team head coach Daniel Blind that he is the player for Dutch squad. This undoubedly will provide extra motivation to him.
Fenerbahce head coach Vitor Pereira main issue he needs to solve is problem of 2nd half where team losses concentration in every game of the league. If club is able to solve this, Fenerbahce is closer to win tommorow night.
