What happened in Turkish football today? 09.11

It is normal for Besiktas to lose tempo

Even for the teams which are known to play at high paced itis hard to keep tempo of game fast for them in every game back to back. Currently Besiktas is having slower tempo in last games compare to just few games before however it still managed to get desired result which allowed them to stay 2 points behind Fenerbahce.

Besiktas star and best signing in the league this summer, Mario Gomez, also shows some lower performance compare to previous weeks even through he still recieved a call to German national team. It needs to be remembered that Besiktas did have very hard fixture in last month and this national team break will be needed in same manner as for other top 3 teams for them.

As been stated earlier, after the break it will become clear if Besiktas is having this worry which it had in last 2 weeks and poorer performance after better start. But club should trust Senol Gunes to solve this issue and their do.

Pereira focus into successful defence doesnt satisfy Turkish public

Since the start of the league, Fenerbahce and its head coach Vitor Pereira was among most crticised in the Turkish football. Even through the criticism sounds legitimate, Pereira does do something right if its only  2 points behind leaders and is winning back to back lately at the league.

It is true that Fenerbahce football does not look pretty at television and stadiums with slow game and by scoring only one goals. However, football is not only based into attack as Greece national team proved back in Euro 2004. Club is defending very good and stopped conceding goals both in Turkish league and Europa League.

Vitor Pereira defensive thinking is doing effective job but problem is Turkish supporters and observers want excitement from big 3 teams and lots of goals, winning 1:0 is not a good performance even if its brings league title. Don't forget Turkish media still says that last season Galatasaray didnt become champions because their good but their opponents were weak.

Trabzonspor needs new and calm CEO.

In the sense of scandals and talks outside of football is once again could be seen at Trabzonspor, as it seems to be case lately. Too much focus into what is happening outside of football field unfortunately brings too much stress to coaching staff and players which reflects to the results at the league.

The decision to run an election for CEO in December could be a good decision as new face, more calmer but focussed into success of the club, could solve lots of issue at the team. All of this talks about referee scandal, match-fixing and now security checks in stadiums does only harm at performance wise.

Club needs a CEO who would not try to start fights but otherwise calm down tension and make friends at Turkish footballing world, as it only way to make club and Turkish football to go forward.
