What happened in Turkish football today? 05.11

Great defensive play by Fenerbahce but no attacks

Fenerbahce game against Ajax during Europa League has been highlighted by defensive play of the team, which main aim was not to lose rather than to win. With the Ajax also unable to play great football, Fenerbahce has achieved a crucial draw:0:0.

Despite of fact that Fenerbahce has provided great defensive play , in the same time it could not have said same for its poor attacking, to the extend that attackers could not provide effective shot during almost whole game. Until now club's attacking play was not very poor but today players like Volkan Sen, Fernandao, Nani and Robin van Persie could not hit the ball in an effective way.

Fenerbahce head coach Vitor Pereira did show that his team is able to defend for 90 minutes and not provide any chances to its opponent, even through it could be argued that Ajax didnt have much organisation at attacking area themselves. Therefore, it could be noted Fenerbahce has had best defense so far in season but same could not be said for attackers.

Meanwhile, for now biggest winner at groups looks to be Molde, which has 5 point advantage of Fenerbahce, which is in 2nd place.

Besiktas and Lokomotiv Moscow didnt manage to top each other after two games.

Following two Europa League games between Besiktas and Lokomotiv Moscow, it became clear as expected that both teams won't allow other team to get win against each other as the result would be crucial to get first two places at the group.

In similar manner as first game, Besiktas has provided more attacking football, while Lokomotiv Moscow has played more defensive style and only finding positions with counter-attacks. However, it was important for Quaresma to score a goal in such crucial game as he has  recieved some criticisms on his performance in last few games.

The following two draws against Lokomotiv has put into question now if Besiktas will qualify to 2nd round while Lokomotiv is more safer position as it is 2 points ahead of Besiktas. Right now, it is important for Turkish side to stay focus and win very crucial game against Sporting Lisbon.
Another interesting factor is for Lokomotiv scorer to be Oumar Niasse player which has great season in Russian league and who might join Galatasaray during January transfer window.

All-black protest by Trabzonspor fans is nice way to show its anger.

The events of which has happened following game against Trabzonspor and Gaziantepspor regarding of treatment towards referees and also punishments given by Professional Football Disciplinary Committee aftermath is still taking place in Trabzonspor

It became clear that Trabzonspor fans during an away game against Basaksehir on Saturday are planning to attend game wearing all black as a sign of protest. Following protest is an effective way to show its anger as it doesnt contain violence and could be some extend be qualified as silent protest by supporters.

In previous blogs, it could become clear that I don't approve Trabzonspor behaviour and defence regarding of situation with referees however this protest is at least doesnt contain any controversial issues. Administrators meanwhile as said before should calm down the situations and not making things worser for them in upcoming days.
