What happened in Turkish football today? 12/08/2020

Siopsis got positive Covid 19 test result after attending wedding.

Alanyaspor player Marionis Siopsis and his pregnant wife has got positive result from Covid 19 test after attending to wedding event last week and hence to some extend also provides risks which still exist due of this virus in this period.

As most clubs in Turkey and around Europe were having break during last week, its been reported that most of the players did go to well-deserved but in same time risky holidays in such dangerous period. In fact, even through Siopsis is being so far and hopefully would stay to be only player who got positive result from Super League sides, we do see some number of cases being around European clubs. With this taking account that there has always been religion holiday, risks of this could be raised. Meanwhile, Siopsis attending wedding as it is reported without taking too much did cost negatively to him and surely in sportive sense would affect his preparation for upcoming difficult season.

This case as been noted does show that risk of virus is not over and as whole community we still need to be acting precautiously.

Mehmet Sepil has been reelected as Club's Union CEO.

Even through Club's Union CEO Mehmet Sepil has been considering to leave his position due of personal and his club Goztepe reasons, due of not everyone announcing candidacy he run on today's CEO election and got his position.

With Turkish football going through some crucial changes which been mainly dominated from outcome of Covid19 lockdown, role of Clubs Union regarding financial issues and how leagues would be played plays important role. It needs to be noted that Sepil did his job pretty well and did get trust from all of the clubs in union, which consists of Super League, and would see such reelection as positive as he did manage to provide strong leading role and representing interests of all clubs in league. Without doubt, there would be even more issues which would need to be taken by club's union such as spending limit, structure of upcoming season and broadcasting issues, but Sepil did prove he can manage those issues in professional manner so far.

Therefore, Mehmet Sepil would stay in such tough position for upcoming future too as league is going some crucial changes in this tough times.

Even sure it could be noted that Trabzonspor did have good season especially when comparing previous season from recent past, it did also show that side needs to provide lots of improvement as side if it wants to get title next season as some key aspects on field has prevented them to get it. Xavier who does provide some good performance at Fluminense and is being see as player who can develop even more hasa all reasons to strengthen attacking of the side for next season. Meanwhile, loan deal with transfer option shouldnt not see as uncertainty from Trabzonspor, but more due of financial issue but in same time it could be able to see level of performance and decide if it should sign him for 2 million euro.
