What happened in Turkish football today? 21/12/2019
Galatasaray had lack to be providing strong concentration to games.
Galatasaray continues with showing poor and ineffective performance during Super League, especially in the away games as it has lost to Goztepe with 2:1 scoreline with failing to get upper hand during game.
With beating Tuzlaspor during Turkish Cup, even through its being not ver strong opponent, there was expectation that positive morale and outcome would transform with positive performance at least for this game. Apart of providing poor performance, it did look like Galatasaray had issue to get fully concentrated to this game with providing very ineffecitve game, taking account that Goztepe even through did surely deserve this win didnt provide very strong performance and in form Galatasaray would usually get good win in such game. It does look, which has been mentioned in our posts earlier, Galatasaray does look to be more having more internal psychological issues rather then physical as it looked like players didnt really provide that reaction to get win in whatever cost which would be expected from side which would fight for league title. It become more clear also that head coach Fatih Terim is being not in great form and does provide harm to team.
Goztepe compare to its opponents has been focussed into this game and has also win its last game Bornova Stadium as it would be moving to its new stadium after mid-season break with providing good confident performamce.
Galatasaray does have serious issues into providing full concentration for game and show right reaction which would be expected for team to be fighting for league title.
Fenerbahce would come out to Besiktas with some pressure.
Without doubt main game during penultimate week of calendar year would be between Fenerbahce and Besiktas which would be also last derby game for 2019 at the game where result would identify its condition and aims for 2nd half of the season so far.
Even through when looking at the form of both sides it could be argued that Besiktas has good advantage, it needs to be reminded that Fenerbahce didnt lose game to Besiktas since 2005 and in general historically does show good performance at home especially its historical rivals. Stating that Fenerbahce would be coming to the game with some pressure, especially its head coach since his team is not showing very good and high level performance in recent weeks. There is even some talks that if Fenerbahce would be losing game would be sacking Ersun Yanal with rumours that club CEO
Ali Koc is not very satisfied with Yanal performance both on field and out of field. However, it needs to be noted that Yanal does have experience to be playing with such stressful and could in fact this factor provide more motivation and concentration to game.
Fenerbahce does come out to the game with bit more pressure compare to Besiktas but taking account it has experience to go through such issues it can turn into its own advantage.
Besiktas needs to focus to game psychologically among physically.
Besiktas in other hand, despite of losing last week to Yeni Malatyaspor, would come out to
Fenerbahce with better form in recent games compare to its opponent and this could provide extra confidence for game.
With this being first season for Abdullah Avci at the big club, it has been worried if he would be taken that pressure and stress but he did manage to provide good performance in previous derby game, against Galatasaray, with taking account that it was seen as underdog. But that game has been played at time, in this time he would be playing in the field where his side didnt win since 2005, so apart of providing better performance compare to opponent, it needs also to show high level focus and concentration at psychological level. Therefore, Avci would have provide strong role to lead his players to get right focus and needs to do strong homework prior to game. It needs to be also noted that coming to game, it is being in the middle and hence when looking at chances, as been noted Fenerbahce is being only slightly ahead for having homeground advantage.
Therefore, key for Besiktas would be ready for this game to provide strong performance at the field but be physically ready to such crucial game.
