What happened in Turkish football today? 18/12/2019

24 Erzincanspor has shown great character against Besiktas

Besiktas ticket to the Turkish Cup last 16 stage has been close to be lost as 4th division 24 Erzincanspor has managed to beat Besiktas with 2:0 scoreline thanks to the last minute goals during both half but has been relegated due of 3:2 aggregate scoreline.

Besiktas which did come out to the game as would been expected mainly with substitute and academy players didnt provide very good performance and likely has been too relaxed from 1st leg game which it has won with 3:0 scoreline. Apart of conceding two goals, it needs to be noted that Besiktas also provided control to its opponent with lack of concentration. It needs to be noted that argument that side has been distracted for derby game which would take place on 22nd December against Fenerbahce wasnt case as those players will not be playing. In fact, this side has been praised during 1st leg for providing positive game with some players managing to get into attention of head coach Abdullah Avci but their had failed to continue this performance in this game. It needs to be considered lucky to be at last 16 when looking at 2nd leg performance for sure.

Meanwhile, it needs to be praised 24 Erzincanspor, being lowest division side in this stage in the Turkish Cup, for providing such strong resistance and belief with aiming to provide positive performance and almost equalising tie against Besiktas.

With Besiktas getting into next stage of the competition, it would be for sure now focussed into Fenerbahce derby game where it would need to show better focus and performance.

Fenerbahce has got confident scoreline to last 16.

Fenerbahce has got 2:0 win against Istanbulspor during Turkish Cup 5th round 2nd leg game with finding 2 goals during 2nd half and has got into last 16 stage with 6:0 confident scoreline with controlling both games.

It needs to be noted and praised that Fenerbahce side aimed and succeeded to provide good level performance during this game which could be difficult when you have won 1st leg 4:0 and in very unlikely condition to be relegated. Stating that it needs to be also noted that Istanbulspor also provided good level performance during 1st half which to some extend did lead for Fenerbahce to game more seriously. However, when Istanbulspor looked like it has lost concentration and became slightly tired during 2nd half, Fenerbahce has kept its focus and has two important goals. It was especially important for Zanka to show good performance in this game and to score since he was criticised in recent weeks. Therefore, Fenerbahce has shown good game and got well-deserved win with gaining motivation for Besiktas derby on 22nd December.

Istanbulspor as been noted did provide some high level performance during 1st half and provided positive football but became too tired and possibly lost its motivation during 2nd half but it needs to be remembered that it did lose tie with poor game on 1st leg.

Fenerbahce among winning tie with 6:0 scoreline has also provided good performance and got into last 16 stage with strong and confident performance.

Events following Tuzlaspor and Galatasaray game cant be tolerated

Galatasaray coming up during Turkish Cup tie against Tuzlaspor with 4:0 win after losing 2:0 following 1st leg has been overshadowed from events which took place following game with heated argument and fight between sides and statements between both clubs.

One of the most interesting developments which took place today is statement from Galatasaray that Tuzlaspor administrator had punched its female administrator, which is true would provide some serious circumstances for Tuzlaspor. Meanwhile, Tuzlaspor following game did state that Galatasaray player Fernando Muslera has swore towards their players following game which is hard to believe since Muslera has always shown respect and calmness in very heated arguments. Therefore, all those statements are not pleasing at all and it seems to be classical blame to each other and hence it looks like PFDK decisions would be key here and would be able such matter. One thing is certain both sides didnt provide much respect to each other which would only provide issues to themselves and generally to Turkish football as its been important to reduce tension in this country but occasionally like this matters people involved in game doesnt show good example.

Events which took place are not pleasant at all and PFDK needs to do strong actions for those events so people involved in this would be aware that this is not acceptable at all.
