What happened in Turkish football today? 19/12/2019

Trabzonspor got confident outcome against Altay thanks to goals during 2nd half.

Trabzonspor has managed to get to the Turkish Cup last 16 stage with beating Altay during 2nd leg with confident scoreline of 4:1 and hence winning game with 6:2 scoreline with all goals coming during last 40 minutes of the game.

It needs to be noted that Trabzonspor did have some issues during 1st half at getting into game as Altay did provide strong resistance and provided good performance especially in the defence but it always looked like Trabzonspor would be able to get into control whole tie and also game if it manages to find goal which it did with Daniel Sturridge finding goal on 51st minute. Those goals continued with 3 more goals in duration of 20 minutes where Trabzonspor both provided strong push both with attacks and morale with Altay giving up game especially mentally. Even through the game which has been expected to be played with youngsters has been once again dominated with Daniel Sturridge who has scored 2 goals during game which hence has kept in motivation and focus with getting into goal score which hence would provide extra help for upcoming games, for sure at least mid-season break.

Altay it needs to be stated did provide good resistance to Trabzonspor during 1st half but did lose whole control of the game during 2nd half and with conceding goal from Sturridge on 51st minute
amd later from Ekuban did affect motivation of the team.

Trabzonspor with good performance during 2nd half didnt have much issues against Altay and be looking forward to draw which would take place on 20th December.

Besiktas showed too much relaxation for 2nd leg game against 24 Erzincanspor

Despite of getting to Turkish Cup last 16 stage thanks to the 1st leg result against 24 Erzincanspor with 3:0 scoreline, it did have some serious issues and last minute stress during 2nd leg which it has lost with 2:0 scoreline.

Winning calmly against weak opponent in 2 leg ties during 1st game, could provide strong risk of too much relaxation which could cost them qualification to next stage in 2nd game. This what could have happened to Besiktas as their didnt provide very good performance being too relaxed during game playing too much slow game without getting control of the game at all. 24 Erzincanspor which did feel such relaxation from opponent, did try its chances and did provide good performance looking for chances and finding two goals. In fact, it has been one goal away from extra time in 89th minute. Even through without doubt, 24 Erzincanspor deserves lots of praise to provide such attitude and performance against one of the biggest clubs in Tukrey, Besiktas does need to go through why it brough game in such condition.

Besiktas for now would be focussing for sure to Super League derby game against Fenerbahce on 22nd December, as game would be important for both sides without doubt.

Fenerbahce did show strong focus for Istanbulspor game.

Fenerbahce meanwhile came to 2nd leg at Turkish Cup last 16 stage against Istanbulspor with 4:0 advantage and could have similar attitude to game as Besiktas, but there provided much more focus.

It needs to be noted that Istanbulspor until conceding goal did provide very good performance which therefore needed to be return from Fenerbahce in similar manner so it wont have needless stress in upcoming minutes. Performance of Fenerbahce substitutes could be questioned, but it needs to be praised that their showed good concentration which led them to have calm game and also whole tie. It needs to be noted that prior to Besiktas game in league, some of the players did have opportunity to give signs their can also play at that game and especially Tolgay Arslan did show that he is ready for that game. Fenerbahce, even through most players wont be starting on that game, as club did gain important motivation for that game especially when at league it did some poor performance in recent weeks.

Fenerbahce did provide some positive views prior to Besiktas, but it needs to be remembered that this game has been played at circumstances both physically and mentally.
